Revolution In A Catsuit in Broadway REVOLUTION IN A CATSUIT
Bootleg Theater
4/6-4/30/2017
A timely dark comedy that strikes at the heart of the current international 'brown race' profiling crisis, Revolution In A Catsuit explores the world of two actresses of color working desperately against a London casting system that doesn’t care which ‘brown nation’ they come from as long as they can be made to fit stereotypes. The Western understanding (or lack thereof) of 'brown' is put under a hilarious and sometimes painful microscope.  Nina, an actress turned activist, is campaigning for better roles on TV for actors of color, but when her break out role is about to go to Tuhli (her bi-racial sistah-in-arms) the campaign takes on a very different fight. Ambition. Race. Gender. Jealousy. - all play their parts in this behind the scenes look at what happens when a woman places her career above all else in an industry that will not see beyond her race.

It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice... or take a stand... or turn around and go back. These are the stories and characters of today. Songs for a New World is the first musical from Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years, Parade, Bridges of Madison County), this moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices that we make.Brown transports his audience from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge, 57 stories above Fifth Avenue, to meet a startling array of characters that range from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams... and a soulless marriage.Throughout is the theme of looking forward, freedom, and living life to the fullest. The acclaimed Fiasco Theater production that became New York’s surprise hit of the season is hitting the road. Unanimously acclaimed, extended twice at the Roundabout’s Laura Pels Theater, the Tony Award-winning musical classic by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine has been mounted with boundless imagination. This witty and wildly theatrical re-invention is INTO THE WOODS like you’ve never seen it before! Including dazzling songs like “Children Will Listen” and “No One Is Alone,” this thrillingly clever new version made Ben Brantley of The New York Times fall “head over heels.” Mind the wolf, heed the witch and honor the giant in the sky at this extraordinary musical about the power of wishes and what really happens after they come true. “GORGEOUS. Into the Woods not only features a giant but IS ONE. In perhaps its most surprising reconfiguration yet, Fiasco’s production highlights the way people fight with their fate rather than just succumb to it. GENIUS.” -Jesse Green, New York Magazine

The Foreigner, by Larry Shue in Broadway THE FOREIGNER, BY LARRY SHUE
Santa Monica Repertory Theater at The Miles Playhouse
4/22-5/20/2017
Our story unfolds at a fishing lodge in rural Georgia often visited by "Froggy" LeSeuer, a British demolition expert who occasionally runs training sessions at a nearby army base. This time Froggy has brought along a pathologically shy young man named Charlie who is overcome with fear at the thought of making conversation with strangers. So Froggy tells everyone that Charlie is from an exotic foreign country and speaks no English. The fun begins when Charlie overhears more than he should — hilarious and damaging revelations made with the belief that Charlie doesn't understand a word of English. The fact that only Charlie and the audience are in on the joke fuels the nonstop hilarity of the play and sets up the wildly funny climax in which things go uproariously awry for the "bad guys," and the "good guys" emerge triumphant. Winner of two Obie Awards and two Outer Critics Circle Awards as Best New American Play and Best Off-Broadway Production. Based on what the NY Post describes as a "devilishly clever idea," the play demonstrates what can happen when a group of devious characters must deal with a stranger who (they think) knows no English.
