Lighting and Sound Supervisor - NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts

Serve as Master Electrician for large scale events at the Skirball Center; sometimes create lighting designs and provide design assistance. Oversee inventory, tracking, and maintenance of department lighting, sound, and projection equipment; supervise and provide necessary instruction to technical staff as well as student and freelance technicians.

Qualifications

Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Technical Theater

Required Experience:

3+ years technical/supervisory experience in live event production.

Along with being a Lighting Specialist, a strong knowledge of Projection is preferred, along with basic Audio skills. (note the title of the posted position is Lighting/Audio Supervisor, but this position is intended to lead the lighting department and only support when needed the audio department.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Strong organizational, drafting, and rigging skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. The Lighting Supervisor is expected to remain well versed in the current standards and practices, both educational and professional, of Lighting, Projection and Audio production. High proficiency on programming ETC EOS console and ability to install and program moving lights. Will be required to become a certified Fire Guard and Fire Drill Conductor. Ability to work evenings and weekends, with schedules changing week to week. Computer literacy in Windows and Mac operating systems; applications: Microsoft Office, Vectorworks Spotlight, AutoCAD, LightWright, Protools, Apple Logic.
