Corcadorca Return With A New Site-Specific Production For Cork Midsummer Festival
What if we all knew at what age we were going to die - how would this change us as individuals and as a society? The Numbered is an engaging and thought-provoking play by Elias Canetti. Reuniting the award-winning design team from the 2017 festival hit, Far Away, including Mel Mercier, Aedin Cosgrove and Paul Keogan, The Numbered sees Corcadorca return to Cork's iconic Fitzgerald's Park where they staged the acclaimed production A Midsummer's Nights Dream in 2001.
The cast includes Tadhg Murphy, a highly experienced stage actor who has worked extensively with Druid, The Abbey and The Gate Theatres. Recently, he appeared in Gare St Lazare's production of Beckett's Waiting For Godot. Lucianne McEvoy was most recently seen as Marie in Rona Munro's Bold Girls directed by Richard Baron at Citizens Theatre, Glasgow. Other stage work includes Siobhan in The Curious Case Of The Dog In The Night-Time, the National Theatre's highly acclaimed production based on Mark Haddon's award-winning novel. Frankie McCafferty is an actor and director, known for his roles in Philomena, Vikings and Ripper Street. He most recently appeared as Uncle Peter in The Plough And The Stars at The Abbey Theatre, Dublin and on national and international tour.
With The Numbered, Director Pat Kiernan is once again bringing innovative and exciting theatre to Cork audiences. Kiernan is renowned for his successes with large scale, off site theatre, which range from the epic to the intimate. Most recently his experimental approach brought triumphant performances of Far Away at Spike Island and The Same at the Old Cork Prison.
Previews take place June 15th-16th, and the show runs until June 30th. Tickets for The Numbered are available through the Cork Midsummer Box Office website, or online from www.corkmidsummer.com
