Who is Umrao and why does her tale needs to be told again and again and yet again?
Umrao supposedly is the first feminist female protagonist of the Urdu literature. She definitely is a little girl abducted for vendetta from outside her house. She is a girl sold to a madame for some loose change. She is a young woman who learns very early in life that she would have to earn her keep. She is an old woman who wonders despite the riches she enjoyed, the silks she wore and the asharfis she hoarded away, what was her life worth?
