While celebrating the birth centenary year of Mohanraoji Kallianpurkar, Shama Bhate has tried to restructure some of his compositions and reconstruct some his concepts.
Shama Bhate, Founder Director of Nad-Roop, was blessed with special insight from her close association with Pt. Mohanrao Kallianpurkar. Even as her dance remains strictly traditional, she is quick to explore the possibilities of innovative joint ventures.
Mohanraoji Kallianpurkar remains one of the greatest legendary gurus of the Kathak dance, whose ideas and concepts were surely well above his time. He had imbibed and assimilated the subtleties as well as significant features of both the gharanas into his creations.
