Based on Frank Wedekind's 1891 play, SPRING AWAKENING is a story of teenage self-discovery and sexuality under the repressive, provincial backdrop of late 19th century Germany. Hailed as "the best new musical in a generation" by The New York Observer, SPRING AWAKENING is an 8-time Tony Award winning musical, including Best Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Book.

In a world where "adults know best", the story centers around the handsome and fearless Melchior (Patrick Rodriguez), his nervous and intense friend Moritz (Cameron Jordan), and the naïve but curious Wendla (Rheanna Salazar) in their poignant journey from youth to adulthood. The stellar cast also includes Emily Barona, Meagan Nagy, Aaron Matthews, William Cadena, Corey Vega, Aly Pentangelo, Mariah Jimenez, André Gadbois, Stephen Gair, and Eliana Parenti.

SPRING AWAKENING, directed at Main Street Playhouse by Liz Dikinson and Musical Director Andrew Gilbert, features an electrifying score by Duncan Sheik, with book and lyrics by Steven Sater.

Opening September 26, 2014 and running through October 12, 2014: Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00 PM; Sundays at 2:00 PM. There will be one performance on Thursday, October 9 at 8:00 PM. Tickets may be purchased online (recommended) at www.mainstreetplayers.com or the day of the performance at the door. Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors, $18 for students.

SPRING AWAKENING contains mature themes, sexual situations and strong language.
