HOW TO BE A WIDOW

Annaleigh - 25-30, female, white. A bright, bubbly young woman raised in Southern high society. Easily overtaken by her own imagination, there's anxiety and a little kink underneath all the polish.

Mirabelle - 30-35, female, white. A sophisticated, educated, darkly funny young woman who has married into Southern high society. She skates over her deep-water longing by observing the world from its edges.

Danny - 27, light-skinned African-American, a teacher

Toussaint - 33, his half-brother, darker skinned African-American, a Shakespearean actor

Agnes (Aggie) – 73, their grandmother

Sally - 14, African-American girl (can be played by a slightly older young woman).

Elizabeth - 30-40, African-American woman.

Susanna -50-60, African-American woman

THE ROBERTASSEY

HIKER – 70, Homeless, alcoholic, dead, a veterinarian. Also plays BARTENDER.

ROBERTA - 40, his daughter. Attractive, troubled. Recently unemployed. Recovering alcoholic.

CAROL - 36, her sister. Pregnant, calm, giving, a nurse. Also plays HOTEL CONCIERGE (mid 30’s, Irish, bossy), CLAIRE, and IRISH WOMAN WITH A TAIL.

GARTH - early 40’s, Irish. Works in the baggage department. A drinker. Also plays AEMON, early 40’s. Irish. Works in the baggage department. Dreamy, romantic.
