Equity and Non-Equity Ensemble actors who sing and dance well for our 2020 Mainstage Season. Please see breakdown below.

PREPARATION

Come prepared to dance. Women bring character heels/jazz/tap/ballet shoes; men bring jazz/tap/ballet shoes. Dancers may be asked to sing. Prepare 32 bars of a traditional musical theatre song in a style appropriate to the season. Additional vocal material will be upon request.

Richie: Accomplished dancer who sings well. Ethnic and extremely energetic. Mid 20’s. Tenor. Flexibility and basic Acrobatic skills a plus.

Paul: Accomplished actor who dances well. Italian or Hispanic in appearance. Slight and sensitive with a natural grace. Mid 20’s-30’s. Tenor.

Mark: Accomplished dancer who sings well. The youngest male on the line. Boyish and likeable. Late teens-early 20’s.

Greg: Accomplished dancer who sings. Highly sophisticated, wry and intelligent with a decidedly wicked wit. Out and proud. Late 20’s- early 30s.

Bobby: Accomplished dancer who sings well. Caucasian. White collar in appearance; He has a quirky almost outrageous comedic sense, yet remains immensely likeable. Mid-late 20’s.

Al: Accomplished dancer who sings well. Tough, street-wise and overtly masculine. Married to Kristine. Mid-late 20’s.

Frank: Ensemble role. Accomplished dancer who sings well. Early 20s. Wears a headband. Covers the principal roles of Greg & Bobby. Bari-tenor.

Butch: Ensemble role. Accomplished dancer who sings well. Early 20s. Covers the principal roles of Larry & Al. Tenor.

Val: Accomplished dancer who sings well. Smart, sassy, and immensely sure of herself with a killer body; yet the girl next door. Mid-late 20’s. Mezzo.

Diana: Accomplished dancer who sings well. Hispanic in appearance. Warm, energetic, and extremely likeable. Mid-late 20’s. Mezzo.

Judy: Accomplished dancer who sings well. Energetic, quirky and decidedly offbeat. Mid 20’s. Soprano.

Bebe: Role is cast. Accomplished dancer who sings well. Natural and unaffected – a bit of an ugly duckling. Mid-late 20s. Mezzo.

Kristine: Accomplished dancer/actress who sings. Married to Al. Quirky, comedic sensibility. Exhibits an extreme amount of nervous energy. Mid 20’s. Alto.

Maggie: Accomplished dancer who sings very well. Likeable girl next door; shy and sensitive. Soprano with a solid mix/belt.

Vickie: Ensemble role. Accomplished dancer who sings well. Mid 20s. An ex-Vegas dancer and self-styled sexpot. Covers the principal roles of Sheila and Val.

Tricia: Featured Ensemble role. Accomplished dancer who sings very well. Early 20s. Covers the principal roles of Maggie & Judy.

Lois: Ensemble role. Accomplished dancer with strong ballet technique who sings. Early 20s. Covers the principal role of Kristine.

Carole: Ensemble role. Accomplished dancer/actress who sings well. Early 20s. Italian or Hispanic in appearance. Covers the principal roles of Diana & Bebe.

LA CAGE AUX FOLLES

Les Cagelles: Featured Male Ensemble roles. Mid 20s-30s. All ethnicities. Must sing and dance extremely well. Flexibility and acrobatic skills a plus. All perform as drag artists and double as Townspeople of St. Tropez. Minimum height: 5’9”.

Mercedes: The oldest and most jaded of the Cagelles. Leads the Can-Can. Comic skills a plus.

Hanna from Hamburg: A dominatrix; frequently cracks a whip. Dating Francis. Must dance well.

Chantal: Must have a strong Soprano falsetto; actively seeking all ethnicities. Should move well.

Phaedra: An exquisite male Showgirl; extremely dumb, but beautiful. Must dance well.

Dermah/Odette/Lo Singh: 3 attractive male drag artists. Must sing and dance well.

Renaud: Ensemble role. Mature, male friend of Georges and Albin; late 40s-mid 50s. Owns a small café. Must sing and move well.

Young Renaud: Ensemble role. Adult son of Renaud; early-mid 20s. Featured dancer in the “Masculinity” number. Acrobatic skills a plus.

Angelique/Nicole/Clo-Clo: 3 Featured Female Ensemble roles who perform as Cagelles. Mid 20s-30s. All ethnicities. Must sing and dance extremely well. Flexibility and acrobatic skills a plus. All perform as male drag artists and double as Townspeople of St. Tropez. Minimum height: 5’7”.

Madame Renaud: Ensemble role. Female friend of Georges and Albin; late 30s-mid 40s. Married to Renaud. Must sing well. Soprano.

Babette: Ensemble role. Wardrobe lady at La Cage. Seen and done it all. Must sing well. Mezzo Soprano. Comic skills a plus.
