SEEKING
Seeking Equity actors for various roles in Round House Theatre's upcoming production of “Quixote Nuevo” (see breakdown). Roles will not be understudied. Actors from the DC/MD/VA area and performers of Tejano, Mexican, and Latin American descent particularly encouraged to submit. Actors with singing and guitar experience are also highly encouraged.
INSTRUCTIONS
Prepare one contemporary monologue. Total time should not exceed 5 minutes. Please send in a picture and resume with submission by 11:59pm EDT on May 4, 2021.

BREAKDOWN
Quixote Nuevo
Actors must be able to move well. Percussion experience a plus.
Manny Diaz (Sancho Panza)- Latino, 30s-40s. Manny is a paleta (popsicle) vendor. In Quijano’s fantasy he plays Quixote’s righthand man Sancho Panza. This is a part Manny is game to play, if only to keep an eye on his friend. He is funny, all heart, and knows more than he lets on.
Papa Calaca (Vivaldo, Captain Viedma, Trucker)-- Latino, 30’s-40’s. a.ka Papa Muertes is leader of the CALACAS (skeletons) here to usher in the end of Quijano's time on Earth. A troubador or sorts.
Magdelena (Perla)- Latina, 50s. Quijano's younger sister. She took him in when his health began to deteriorate but has since grown resentful of him and the exta stress he brings on the household. Exhausted and out of options.
Antonia (Inez)- Latina, 20’s-30’s. Quijano's dutiful niece and Magdelena's daugther. She is determined to take care of her uncle alone, fighting her mother's wishes to put him in a nursing home. Compassionate, intelligent, but also a little over her head.
Bruno Castillo (Young Quijano)- Latino, 30s. Bartender/co-owner of Rosario's Lounge and Karaoke, the local bar. He is a man with unwavering authority, gusto, and a great sense of humor. He keeps the severed finger of Pancho Villa as a souvenir in a jar.
Padre Perez (Big Man with Belt, Border Patrolman, Cardenio)- Latino. 50s. A man of God. Close to the family and close to the community. Humble and compassionate, but not much tolerance for the demons he thinks possess Quijano.
Dr. Campos (Dulcinea)- Latina, 30-40s. The woman of Quijano's dreams who appears as an apparition, pushing him forward on his quest to find her. She is his first love, and his one true love.
Rosario (Juana)- Latina, 30s-40s. Juana is Manny’s wife and the mother of their children. She is sassy and pragmatic. She is not happy about Manny’s current expedition and promises that whatever trouble he might get himself into won’t compare to the trouble he is in at home.
