Prepare material of choice (including, if you wish, selections from the season’s repertoire). For those who wish to perform a scene, a reader will be available. State your starting and stopping places. Accompanist provided.

· A monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

Tevye:
Role CAST. M, 45-60. The likeable, hard-working, pious dairyman who always tries to see the positive side of life. He is a proud patriarch and father of five daughters, closely raised according to the old scriptures.

Golde:
F, 40-50.) Tevye's strong-willed wife who wishes for her daughters to have good husbands and easier lives than she and Tevye

Tzeitel:
F, 18-25. Tevye's eldest daughter, who has been in love with Motel since childhood. She is loyal to her family but typically challenges the town's traditions.

Hodel:
F, 18-23. Tevye's second eldest daughter, who falls in love with Perchik. She
eventually leaves Anatevka to join Perchik in Siberia.

Chava:
F, 18-23. Tevye's middle daughter who loves to read. Falls in love and elopes with Fyedka, a Russian soldier.

Shprintze:
F, 9-13. Tevye's fouth eldest daughter. Takes lessons with Perchik.

Bielke:
F, 8-12. Tevye's youngest daughter. Takes lessons with Perchik.

Yente:
F, 50-60. The meddling matchmaker. She is a widow and village busybody who knows all of the town gossip.

Motel:
M, 18-25. The poor and meek tailor who shares a deep love with Tzeitel. Sensitive and nervous, but sincere and friendly.

Perchik:
M, 40-50. The outspoken student and visitor to Anatevka, who constantly challenges the traditions of the town. He eventually falls in love with Hodel.

Lazar Wolf:
M, 40-50. The feisty, brawny butcher and the town's wealthiest citizen who wishes to marry Tzeitel.

Avram:
M, 40-60. Runs the local bookshop and keeps the town advised of all the news in the area.
Vocal range top: Eb4/ Vocal range bottom: D3

Grandma Tzeitel
F, 60-75. Golde's deceased grandmother, who endorses the marriage between Tzeitel and Motel.

Fruma-Sarah:
F, 35-45. Lazar's Wolf's deceased first wife. She becomes enraged when her husband plans to wed Tzeitel.

Constable:
M, 35-45. Russian military official stationed near Anatevka who is friendly with Tevye.

Fyedka:
M, 20-25. A strong, young Russian soldier who sees past his military obligations and
falls in love with Chava.

The Fiddler:
M or F, 13-20. Represents the town’s attachment to its traditional values. Plays the violin.

This music/theatre revue showcases Bertolt Brecht’s personal writings and political ideologies alongside excerpts from his most popular artistic collaborations.

There are four roles available: 2 men and 2 women of any age.
