SEEKING

Actors and singers who act for 5 available roles. 2 other roles have been cast but actors maybe considered for possible replacements if needed. See breakdown.

PREPARATION

Actors auditioning for the role of 'COSIMO MATTASA' will be provided with sides from the show.

All other actors should prepare a brief song in the style of the musician(s) they are auditioning for or a 50's/60's rock and roll song. An accompanist will be provided.

Bring picture and resume.

BREAKDOWN

COSIMO MATTASA
A non-singing narrator and journeyman from the past into the present day (2014). An Italian-American man in his early 80’s, he is funny and charismatic with a huge heart and big spirit. The French Quarter is his home and he wants us to feel welcome. His memories are his greatest treasures and he loves to share them.

DAVE BARTHOLOMEW
A fit young black bandleader. He is a natural born leader whose talent is as huge as his love for music.

SISTER WYNONA CARR
A beautiful, sexy young black woman with a sultry voice and sensuality that contradicts her desire to have a career as a gospel singer. She also plays Annie Laurie, Shirley Goodman and Irma Thomas.

LITTLE RICHARD
A flamboyant over the top young black singer/piano player. Actor does not need to play piano. Also plays Guitar Slim Eddie Jones, Cecil Gant, Lloyd Price, Huey Piano Smith, Bobby Mitchell, and Lee Dorsey.

ART RUPE
A passionate Jewish man is his early 30s. He is an ambitious business man who loves artists who are expressive and passionate. Although direct and sometimes uptight, he’s considered the “father” of the family.

FATS DOMINO
Role CAST – a physically large young black man whose passion for his music and his community is overflowing. He is charming and good-natured.

LLOYD PRICE
Role CAST – an ambitious, tenacious, young black singer. Also plays Jesse Belvin, Roy Brown, and Arthur Lee Maye.
