Breakdown

IT'S A BIRD…IT'S A PLANE...IT'S SUPERMAN (Charles Strouse & Lee Adams)

The role of Dr. Sedgwick is precast.

Superman/Clark Kent: Baritone. Early to mid 30s, handsome, at least 6'1" or taller. Superman shows a vulnerable side in this role, as well as the typical super-hero side. Must be able to play sincere without camp but with a slight "wink." Very physical role

Max Mencken: Tenor. Late 30s - late 40s, handsome but narcissistic and devious. Star columnist of the Daily Planet.

Lois Lane: Mezzo. Late 20s to early 30s. Ace reporter with sense of humor who is hopelessly in love with Superman and sings about it a lot.

Sydney: Alto. Late 20s - mid 30s. Max Mencken's secretary, wise-cracking. Sings "You've Got Possibilities."

Jim Morgan: Lyric Baritone. Early to mid 30s. Dr. Sedgwick's assistant, pleasant young man who is interested in Lois Lane for himself.

Mama Grimaldi: Late 40s to late 50s. Evil head of a family of acrobats who are also criminals.

42nd Street Moon presents intimately produced versions of uncommon musicals, specializing in early to mid-20th Century American Musical Theatre. Since 2008, our shows have been fully staged, with choreography and are performed off-book. The 2013-14 Season will be the company's 21st season.
