Submissions ONLY from Equity actors and singers who live within 50 miles of the Playhouse (Forestburgh NY).
For various roles in the upcoming season. See breakdown.
PREPARATION
Prepare materials appropriate to the shows in the season. Prepare EITHER 1) a brief monologue; or 2) a brief song; or 3) a one minute monologue and 16 bars of a song. Bring picture and resume. Accompanist provided.

BREAKDOWN
THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP

ACTOR 1 Male (30-50), strong comedic timing and physical comedy, proficient in British dialects. Will play multiple characters including Jane (the sharp-tongued sassy housekeeper), Lord Edgar (an Egyptologist in love with his new wife, but haunted by his past) and The Intruder (a mysterious and horrifying figure in the story).
ACTOR 2 Male (30-50), strong comedic timing and physical comedy, proficient in British dialects. Will play multiple characters including Nicodemus (beleaguered servant of the house with a limp with an appetite for the ladies and a horrible secret) Lady Enid (Lord Edgar’s second wife, former stage actress, in love with Lord Edgar and terribly frightened by the mayhem surrounding her) Alcazar (crafty guide in Egypt, showing Lord Edgar to various tombs and such).

BUDDY HOLLY (20-30). Singer-songwriter and star from Lubbock, Texas (accent required). Buddy is intelligent, charismatic, 6 ft' or over. Must play guitar, sing and act and have a feel for rock ‘n’ roll. Some serious star potential, must have a desire to live as a rock ‘n’ roll superstar every night;
RITCHIE VALENS (18-30); good-looking, attractive, handsome guy with serious charisma, a dedicated eye for the ladies, and the ability to hold the stage in his own right. His key song is “La Bamba.” Must be able to act and the ability to play a musical instrument an advantage but not prohibitive;
THE BIG BOPPER-J.P. Richardson--30-45-a former DJ, he is a Texan with an irrepressible larger than-life character. 6' or taller, with the ability to command the stage on his own as a single performer. His key song is “Chantilly Lace.” Must be able to act and the ability to play a musical instrument an advantage but not prohibitive;
HIPOCKETS DUNCAN (30-40) an exuberant hometown radio DJ from Lubbock, Texas, with an air of authority and a keen sense of humor. Must be able to sing and the ability to play a musical instrument is a plus;
NORMAN PETTY (30-40) va record producer from Clovis, New Mexico, with a businesslike manner and a love of making records. Must be able to sing and have the ability to play a musical instrument.

BILL SNIBSON: Baritone (25-45) Strong dancer/tapper, quick-witted, charming, warm, cheeky chappy, no social graces, loyal to Sally. Strong comic timing and cockney and standard British accents.
SALLY SMITH: Strong singer/dancer/tapper (20-30). Warm, charming, bubbly, proud of her Lambeth heritage, street-smart. Would do anything for Bill. Strong cockney and upper crust British accents.
THE DUTCHESS: Mezzo. (50-65). Family matriarch, a force to be reckoned with. Proud of her heritage. Co-executor of will. Strong comic timing and excellent command of text and upper crust British accent.
SIR JOHN: Baritone (50-65). Gentlemanly, father figure, avuncular. Secretly in love with Duchess. Co-executor of will. Strong comic timing and upper crust British accent.

BERGER: Male, 20-29 the charismatic tribe leader; sings Donna and Hair; vocal range: high baritone; good comic sensibility.
HUD: (20-29) African American, member of the tribe. Sings “I’m Black” and “Aint got no”. Bass-Baritone.
CLAUDE: (20-29) the young soldier going off to war; sings Manchester England and Where Do I Go; vocal range: high baritone - tenor; sex symbol and one of the tribe leaders; struggling with duty versus political ideals.
SHEILA: (20-29) beautiful, charismatic, passionate member of the tribe. Sings Easy to Be Hard and Good Morning Starshine. High belt. May require partial nudity.

PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT

BERNADETTE: (Male Lead, 40’s-60’s; baritone/tenor) dance, singing and lip-synching ability essential; quietly dignified transsexual who must be convincing as an older woman who was once the star performer of ‘Les Girls’; mother of the group; glamorous, oozes Old Hollywood charm with rapier wit and sensitivity.
MITZI/TICK: (Male Lead, 30’s-early 40’s; baritone/tenor) dance, singing and lip-synching ability essential; with an unremarkable and essentially straight exterior, Tick is a discontented drag queen, the best in the business; his journey from disillusionment to fulfillment through being reunited with his son is the central core of the story.
FELICIA/ADAM: (Male Lead, 20-30; tenor) outstanding dance, singing and lip-synching ability essential; well built, flashy, young drag queen and born performer with a more than occasional bitchy streak.
BOB: (Male Lead- 40’s-50’s; baritone) strong acting ability with one song; a mechanic; manly, soft hearted Aussie bloke; has a fascination with Bernadette whom he saw perform in ‘Les Girls’ in Sydney more than twenty years ago.

MAX BIALYSTOCK: (40-55) the consummate con man. Animated and bombastic, never at a loss for charm. Strong vocal and comic skills. Strong mover.
LEO BLOOM (35-45) An accountant. Boring and mousy, and at times, neurotic-- he is a hesitant optimist who longs for something more and is dragged into a scheme with Max.
ROGER DEBRIS (50-60) New York’s most famous and flamboyant stage director. Surrounds himself with deliciously beautiful clothing, people and possessions. In a crowd, it would be impossible to miss him.
FRANZ LIEBKIND (35-55) German loyalist playwright. From his lederhosen to his pigeon, Adolph, his love for the motherland is unmistakable. Imposing, yet emotional. German accent.
ULLA (20-35) A young and hopeful actress. Though her beauty might eclipse her talent, Ulla is passionate about life and art. Quite a clueless seductress in some ways. Dance skills a plus. Swedish accent.

VANDA: 20-35. Actress, seemingly ditzy and flighty, but actually fiercely intelligent. A manipulator who easily switches between quirky desperate actor and worshipped sexy goddess. Funny, scary, charismatic, dominant and sexual all at the same time. Partial nudity.
THOMAS 30-40. Hot, up and coming writer/director with a great respect for art and literature. Intellectual, entitled—expects others to live up to high standards he sets for himself. Handsome, tortured and virile—easily brought into world of his play. Willing to grovel and worship. Requires partial nudity.
