Seeking 7m, 6f; age range males early teens - late 50's; females early 20's to 30's. Seeking local San Francisco Bay Area talent for these shows.
Preparation Please prepare 2 Golden Age of B'way songs: Cole Porter, the Gershwin's, Rodgers & Hart, etc. Sondheim, Jerry Herman are OK. Please no rock musicals or Andrew Lloyd Webber. One classic ballad and one character/comedy song. Be prepared to sing the entire song. Bring 2 H/Rs.

DU BARRY WAS A LADY (Cole Porter/Herbert Fields/B.G. DeSylva, 1939). 7m, 6f; age range males early teens - late 50's; females early 20's to 30's. SYNOPSIS: Louis Blore, a janitor at the Club Petite, is in love with featured singer May Daly. Just after winning the Irish Sweepstakes, Louis is knocked out, and dreams he is Louis XV and that May is his mistress, Du Barry. Everyone in the show has a part in the modern (1939) nightclub world, and in the dream, a late 1930s version of 1700s France. LOUIS BLORE / LOUIS, THE KING OF FRANCE - Mid 30s to mid 40s, character baritone. A real vaudeville-type comic. BERT LAHR originated the role. Louis, a janitor at the club, has won the Irish Sweepstakes, making him very popular. MAY DALY / MME DU BARRY - PRE-CAST. ALEX BARTON / ALEXANDRE - Late 20s - early 30s. Legit lyric baritone. Very handsome - May Daly's boyfriend who becomes an anti-monarchy poet in the dream. ALICE BARTON / MME ALISANDE DE VERNAY - Early-mid 20s. Alex's sister, a showgirl at the club and a lady-in-waiting to Du Barry in the dream. Mid-range soprano, sings "Well, Did You Evah?" and "Ev'ry Day a Holiday" - MUST DANCE. HARRY NORTON / LEBEL, CAPTAIN OF KING'S GUARD - Mid - late 20s to early 30s - Alice's boyfriend. Lyric Baritone or Tenor - MUST DANCE. VI HENNESSY / MME DE VILLARDELL - Another showgirl, turned Louis down but very interested now that he's rich. BILL KELLY / LE DUC DE CHOISEUL - Late 30s - late 50s. Character baritone. Friend of Louis', and advisor to the King in dream. DOCTOR / LE DOCTEUR - 30s - 50s. Doctor in the dream. Character baritone. CHARLEY / THE DAUPHIN - Late teens - early 20s, character baritone or tenor. Charley is a bratty delinquent Louis is trying to help. In the dream, he's the bratty Dauphin of France. FLORIAN/ZAMORE/JONES - Jones is an IRS agent after Louis' money. Zamore is an advisor to the King in dream. There is one added Family/Student Matinee at1 pmon the secondSaturdayof the run. Appointments will be in 10-minute increments, with 2 people per time slot.
