BREAKDOWN

The play takes place in Julie Cash's mind. There are no limitations! She reviews her life, her journey as an artist, as well as her relationships with her identical twin sister, Jane, and other family members. Julie is a Political Activist and advocate against the death penalty. She crusades strongly for Thomas Thompson who is scheduled to die by lethal injection. The setting is a rehearsal studio with Julie writing her story. Scripts and actors are about. The environment is neutral with chairs, tables, a music stand and a ballet barre. This will be a collaborative dance and movement play with music.

SEEKING:

JULIE CASH
Female, Caucasian, 30’s (but also portrayed between the ages of 8 and 32). A brunette who is small, slight, gamine, and sprightly. At times, she is shy and impressionable, but still very driven. She is very pretty and looks like Leslie Caron. High Soprano and has a Modern Dance background with some technical training in ballet or modern.

JILL
Female, Caucasian, 20s (but also portrayed between the ages of 13 and 45) Julie’s daughter and will also be in the ensemble. Pretty, determined, perceptive, sensitive, and at times impressionable and high-strung. Mezzo-soprano or lower soprano and has a Modern Dance background with some technical training in ballet or modern.

JAXON
Male, early-mid 20’s. Goes by Jax and is Julie’s grandson. He is handsome, with a “passable singing voice,” good dancer and mover. Perceptive, free spirit, bit of a show-off. Also will be in the ensemble. Must have a Modern Dance background with some technical training in ballet or modern
