BREAKDOWN
EDGAR: Captain of Coastal Artillery Forces (Late 50’s/early 60’s); Caustic sense of humor, with failing health, resilient, stubborn, vain, bitter, wry
ALICE: EDGAR’s wife, (15 years younger than Edgar) Danish, former stage actress; a survivor, biting wit, unflagging sense of humor, desperate in the marriage, something of a wild girl
KURT: ALIICE’s cousin, (early 40’s), newly appointed Master of Quarantine, estranged from wife and children, haunted and starting over, in love with ALICE
