BREAKDOWN

Montgomery/Cadet 1-Carbon/Musician - Male, 40s. Any ethnicity. A large masculine presence. Montgomery is a lascivious, gluttonous actor. Carbon is the captain of the Guards: a crack, upstanding, principled soldier with a wife and daughters back home. Someone with heart - on the young side of 50. Needs to sing very well and move well. Ability to play guitar is a plus.
Ragueneau/Cadet 2/Musician — Male, 40s. Any ethnicity. Ragueneau is the poet baker. A friend to Cyrano. He dislikes De Guiche and any abuse of power - he will do anything for a friend. Cadet 2 has a girl back home that he never confessed that he loved. it should tear the heart in two to hear him tell it. Needs to sing very well and move well.
Jodelet/Priest/Cadet 3 — Male, 50s. Any ethnicity. A comedic track - hopefully. Jodelet is the producer of the play. Needs humor and pizazz. A showman and spin man. The priest is very very thick/dull/slow/easily duped - but kind hearted and well intentioned. Cadet 3 has a father that was a drunk - and possibly follows in his footsteps. Needs to sing very well and move well.
Orange Girl/Sister Claire/Patience — Female, 20s. Any ethnicity. Orange Girl is attracted to Cyrano and not afraid to show it - which makes her progressive. Patience is a lady of the night who hates the upper class which makes her a revolutionary. Sister Claire is a nun who can’t stop admiring her own face in the mirror which makes her a kind and well intentioned sinner. All three are not exactly as they seem and are open to the special and particular something that the actor brings to the room. Looking for an ingenue with wit: a glimmer in her eye and fire in her belly. Needs to sing very well and move well.
Chaperone Marie/Mother Marthe — Female, 40. Any ethnicity. Marie took care of Roxanne when her parents died - she went from the hired and paid Governess to the volunteer position of Chaperone. (She stayed when Roxanne was orphaned out of love and duty.) The Chaperone is akin to the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet. She's sometimes overbearing but kind and loving; she's funny and has a huge heart. She loves Roxanne. She loves sweets. Mother Marthe is the Mother Superior of Our Lady of the Holy Cross: she is gracious and open. Needs to sing very well and move well.
