50s-60s, Avrush’s first wife. A woman of some means. Conservative, and perhaps a bit measured in her demeanor, she’s managed to move far beyond the influence of her former husband and excise him from her life. She is of extremely frail health. Role will be doubled with that of Brayne.

50s-60s, Avrush’s second wife. She is a aggressive pragmatist with an acerbic edge to her. She leads a hardscrabble life and is not above physical violence if pushed to it. She is extremely protective of her daughter, Reyzl. Role will be doubled with that of Shpriyntze.

30s, Brayne’s daughter. Unconventionally attractive. There is a striking quality about. She is hungry for a better life and feeling trapped and stifled in her parents’ home. She is savvy, flirtations, and not above turning a man’s head to get what she wants. That said, she is picky in her tastes. Role will be doubled with that of Giytal

30s-40s, Reyzl’s suitor. Though a tanner by trade, he actively downplays the less-than-savoriness of his trade and cultivates the image of a man higher than his state. There is a carefully polished-up, handsome ruggedness to him that thinly veils an inherent quality of menace. There is a bit of the con artist to him as well, which lends an air of disingenuousness to him. He’s clever, but can lapse into self-centeredness. If push comes to shove, he is not above physical violence.

30s, Son of Avrush and Shpriyntze. He is well meaning, if somewhat slow in his thinking. He has little conscious regard for his outward appearance and is often neglected and given short shrift by those around him. He is a tanner and tries to make the most of the hand life has dealt him, all the while deeply yearning for more. While outwardly contained, just below the surface he is roiling- the smallest spark can set him off. He has a dangerous capacity for violence and blind rage. He is passionately infatuated with his step-sister, Reyzl

30s-40s, Daughter of Avrush and Shpriyntze. Conservative, if not a bit of a snob. Proud and contained, she is fiercely protective of her mother. Likely a confirmed spinster, there is a severity to her that belies her untouched porcelaneous beauty. She has little regard for her brother, Mendl and even less for her father.

30s, Shpriyntze’s friend. A concerned caregiver. Role will be doubled with that of Reyzel
