BREAKDOWN

With a cast of 10 AEA actors, 8 of whom will play multiple roles and be required to play musical instruments, this production will feature a fresh, new staging, only possible at Capital Rep! This beautiful musical, includes the classic songs, If Ever I Would Leave You; How to Handle a Woman; I Wonder What the King Is Doing Tonight; What Do The Simple Folk Do? and the title song. The story chronicles the fateful myth of magic, love and betrayal from the arrival of the lovely Guinevere to her marriage to King Arthur to the heartbreaking triangle that develops when Arthur’s favorite knight, Lancelot, falls in love with the queen.

Note: some chorus tracks include principal- 8 actors, several cast in multiple roles, will augment the orchestra with any of the following instruments: flute, trumpet, clarinet, oboe, French horn, violin, cello, guitar, mandolin, lute, harp. Playing must be at moderate to advanced level. NO beginners, please.

SEEKING:

For the roles below, seeking actors who can play one or more of the following except where noted: flute, trumpet, clarinet, oboe, French horn, violin, cello, guitar, mandolin, lute or harp. Playing must be at moderate to advanced level.

NOTE: Some tracks will be issued a Chorus contract that will include principal part and/or specialties. Actors who play their own instruments will be provided with a modest weekly rental fee in addition to salary.

SEEKING

Lancelot*

(30s) – any ethnicity – Baritone. Charismatic, self-assured, dynamic. Arthur’s best and most loyal knight. Physically fit, a warrior and deeply spiritual person. He’s also rather conceited and intolerant of others foibles. He falls in love with Guenevere and is torn by his allegiance to Arthur. Romantic lead. Requires a big, rich baritone. French accent. (NO INSTRUMENT REQUIRED). $800/week.

Merlyn/Pellinore*, and ensemble as cast
(50s) – talk-sings most songs, but would like a Baritone or Tenor in ensemble numbers. As Merlyn, he’s the voice of the myth – good storyteller, mentor presence. As Pellinore, some doddering, completely lovable and loyal. Great comic timing. Prefer actor who can play one or more of the following instruments: flute, trumpet, clarinet, oboe, French horn, violin, cello, guitar, mandolin, lute, or harp. Playing must be at moderate to advanced level. Standard British accent. $700/week + $25-$50/week instrument rental for musicians depending on instruments.

Sir Lionel/ensemble as cast

(20-40s) – any ethnicity – Bari-Bass. Loyal knight to Arthur and Guinevere. Athletic, some sword play. Requires playing one or more of the following instruments: flute, trumpet, clarinet, oboe, French horn, violin, cello, guitar, mandolin, lute, or harp. Playing must be at moderate to advanced level. Standard British accent. $650/week plus $25-$50/week instrument rental depending on instruments.

Morgan Le Fey*/Lady Anne/ensemble as cast
(20s-40s) – Mezzo. Comedienne, very NY as Morgan, boisterous, great comic timing, sense of style. Some dance required (modern/ballet). Requires playing one or more of the following instruments: flute, trumpet, clarinet, oboe, French horn, violin, cello, guitar, mandolin, lute, or harp. Playing must be at moderate to advance level. Standard British accent. $650/week plus $12 for principal plus $25-$50/week instrument rental depending on instruments.

Nimue/Lady Catherine/ensemble as cast
(20s-30s) –Legit Soprano. Mystical, graceful - this performer must have excellent dance skills(modern/ballet), a beautiful legit Soprano, and the ability to play one or more of the following instruments: flute, trumpet, clarinet, oboe, French horn, violin, cello, guitar, mandolin, lute, or harp. Playing must be at moderate to advanced level. Standard British accent. $650/week plus $25-$50/week instrument rental depending on instruments.
