BECOMING DR. RUTH by Mark St. Germain is a one-woman tour-de-force about the world's most famous pioneering radio and television sex therapist. Few, however, know the incredible journey that preceded it. From fleeing the Nazis in the Kindertransport and joining the Haganah in Jerusalem as a sniper, to her struggle to succeed as a single mother newly-arrived in America. The play is filled with humor, honesty and the life-affirming spirit of Karola Ruth Siegel, the girl who became Dr. Ruth.

Casting Dr. Ruth Westheimer - 60's, slight in stature, strong, positive, great sense of humor.

Minorities and Connecticut/Westchester actors are STRONGLY encouraged to attend.

Please prepare a monologue in the style of the show. Please slate your name and the name of your audition piece. Also please include picture & resume attached to email. All submissions may be sent to Alex at beginning on Monday, January 4. Please submit videos in mp4 or dropbox/google link formats.

Reviewing submissions will be Kevin Connors (director), Jim Schilling (MTC Managing Director) and Alex Mongillo (Administrative Manager).

BECOMING DR. RUTH will rehearse in person January 26 - February 4, 2021 at the Music Theatre of Connecticut. MTC will meet and exceed all requirements and be in full compliance for reopening with all Equity and State of Connecticut. Production will be performed live on Friday - Sunday schedule with a small, limited live audience and an approved closed stream for each performance.

Music Theatre of Connecticut, currently beginning its 34th season, is located in a beautiful theatre center in Norwalk, CT. The company has won numerous "Best" awards both BroadwayWorld and Connecticut Crtitics' Circle Awards, including the prestigious Killen Award for Outstanding Contribution to Professional Theatre, joining Long Wharf, Hartford Stage and the Westport Playhouse.
