two contrasting monologues or one monologue/one song. total audition lasting no longer than 3 minutes total. Please also bring 1 set of current photo and resume. A piano accompanist will be present.

First rehearsal of season is August 14, 2018. Closing date of season is June 2, 2019. Normal is a ten week contract for each show: 4 weeks rehearsal and 3 weeks of performance in Tucson and 3 weeks of performance. See breakdown.

Tania Del Valle -- 29 year old Latin female , a doctorial candidate; ; Pablo Del Valle -- 31 year old Latin male -- a lawyer.
Erma Bombeck: At Wit's End ---a one actor play -- Erma Bombeck is an iconic best-selling author and newspaper columnist.
The Music Man ---a classic American musical. All roles.
American Mariachi -- featuring the development of an all-girl mariachi band.
LUCHA MORALES, early to mid 20s, U.S. born Mexican-American. Bilingual.. Struggles with her father’s expectations. Dreams of one day becoming a nurse. She is the primary caregiver for her mother. She loves to sing and learns to play the violin.
HORTENSIA PEREZ, prefers to be called “BOLI.” Early to mid 20s, Mexican American. Works as a hotel maid and later at a canner.. She loves to sing and learns to play the guitar.
AMALIA MORALES, late 40s/early 50s. Mexican American. Bilingual.. She is battling early onset dementia and is mostly lost in the past except for a few moments of lucidity.
FEDERICO MORALES, middle-aged Mexican. Immigrated to the U.S. as a young man. Bilingual, He works as a cook by day and sings and plays an instrument as a professional mariachi by night and weekends.
ISABEL CAMPOS, late 20s/early 30s. Mexican American. Bilingual. Shy and has a hard time speaking up for herself. Singing is her greatest passion. She sings in her church choir. Learns to play the trumpet. .
MATEO CAMPOS, late 20s/early 30s.Bilingual. Struggles with the traditions of “Macho” culture and his love for his wife. Can sing and play a mariachi instrument.
GABBY OROZCO, mid 20s. Mexican American. She lacks confidence, style, and experience in the world. She sings and plays the electric bass at her church. Learns to play the guitarrón.
SOYLA REYNA, early/mid 40s. Born in Colombia. Immigrated to the U.S. as a young woman. Bilingual. She is always well put together. Savvy about the world, opinionated, self-sufficient, sexually confident, and supportive of the young women. She sings beautifully and learns to play the vihuela.
MINO AVILA, a middle-aged Mexican. Bilingual. A former mariachi, he is very wise, a music historian. A soft-spoken and humble man with a broken heart. He plays guitar or vihuela.
