BLOOD POTATO by James McManus. Directed by Kevin Kittle. 1st reh: 9/29/12.
Runs 11/1-24 at the Clurman Theatre.
[Janelle]
Woman, 20s. Addicted to meth at the beginning of play. Gets "clean" for Declan, but struggles to stay that way as she and Fly and Declan start selling meth to make ends meet. Never a victim of circumstance; has trouble believing she deserves Declan and the good things in life.
[Declan]
Mid 20s. Just returned from Iraq to find his girlfriend Janelle addicted to meth. Stuck in a plastics factory job, he tries to weather the storm by selling meth with Janelle and Fly. Tries to look after his brothers Fly and Quinn.
[Fly]
Mid 20s. Loose cannon. Started a relationship with Janelle once his brother Declan shipped off to Iraq. Recreational drug user. Starts to want more than money when their business of selling meth takes off and Declan and Janelle get back together.
[Quinn]
CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency)
replacements, should any become necessary. Man, mid 20s. Declan and Fly's
youngest brother. Drives a school bus. Huge heart.
[Adrienne]

replacements, should any become necessary. Female, age 14 (will be
played by an actress 18+). Student who rides Quinn’s bus. Sharp, witty beyond her
years.

[Tim / Safety Pilot]
Man, mid 20s. Comes to NYC to live with his brother Morgan after the death of his mom. He moonlights during the day as a self-created superhero called Safety Pilot, much to the shock of everyone around him. Meets Cherry and falls in love.
[Cherry]
Woman, early 20s. Open-hearted NYC transplant, new in the city and looking for a new life. Meets Tim and falls hard.
[Morgan]
Man, 30s. Tim’s older brother. Escaped their abusive home and moved to NYC to stay with relatives at a young age. Now a successful lawyer, Morgan is embarrassed by Tim’s antics and ashamed of leaving him behind in Ohio.
[Dummy]
Male, 20s-30s. The embodiment of a sparring dummy, this character is Tim’s protector/confidant, and Tim is the only one who can hear him talking.
[Matt Brennan]
Man, 30s. Lonely, disenchanted police officer, trying to find more to his life than his job. Believes the superheroes are putting themselves and everyone around them in danger.
[Wayne Hardy]
African American man, 30s. Matt’s partner. Voice of reason. Strong; the better half of the partnership.
[Michael/Hope]
Man, late 20s-30s. Visits the homeless as “Hope”, his superhero who brings food and clothing and most importantly, company to those in need. His own demons surface when he can’t hide behind his mask any longer.
[Lizzy/Guardian Angel]
Female, late teens - early 20s. Angry. Her younger sister was abducted and killed. Her family moved to NYC and she began her double life as Guardian Angel, a superhero who hunts abusive men and does her best to rid the world of violence by using violence.
[Faye]
Woman, 20s. Homeless. Somewhat coherent, but spirals out of control. Hope’s attempts to connect with her bring out a sweeter side, until she goes missing.
