SEEKING
Equity actors for various roles.
No understudies are being cast. All available roles are available for any and all actors, regardless of race, heritage, or gender identification. We seek actors who are able to and enjoy playing multiple roles in a production, who are physically engaged in the work and with other ensemble members. Each production schedule includes at least 5 weekday morning student matinees, which actors must be available for.
PREPARATION
Equity appointments are scheduled in five-minute intervals and each Equity member has a maximum of three minutes to audition. Please bring your AEA membership card.
Please prepare material of your choice (including, if you wish, selections from the season). For those who wish to perform a scene from the season, a reader will be available. Please be prepared to state your starting & stopping places.

Actors who are local to the Boston area are strongly encouraged to audition.
An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.

Albany: son-in-law to Ling Lear, wife to Goneril. A man of ethics and grace.
Fool: King Lear’s jester, savior, protector.
Regan: King Lear’s erratic middle daughter, endlessly disappointing to the King. Married to The Duke of Cornwall.
Oswald: Goneril’s servant and lackey, a climber.
Edmund: The Duke of Gloucester’s bastard son. Power hungry and ruthless.

The Merchant of Venice

Available Roles:
Shylock: A Jewish money lender in Venice. Despised by most. Father of Jessica. Gender fluid.
Antonio: The Merchant of Venice who seeks a loan from Shylock on behalf of his friend Bassanio, though he despises Shylock. He is often inexplicably sad.
Portia: A wealthy, intelligent heiress from Belmont. Bound by a clause in her father’s will that forces her to marry whichever suitor chooses correctly among three caskets, Portia is nonetheless able to marry her true love, Bassanio. During the final act, in the disguise of a young law clerk, Portia’s cleverness saves Antonio from Shylock’s knife.
Launcelot Gobbo: At first Shylock’s and then Bassanio’s servant. A clown who is especially adept at making puns.
Bassanio - A gentleman of Venice, and a kinsman and dear friend to Antonio. Bassanio’s love for the wealthy Portia leads him to borrow money from Shylock with Antonio as his guarantor. An ineffectual businessman, Bassanio proves himself a worthy suitor, correctly identifying the casket that contains Portia’s portrait.
Gratiano - A friend of Bassanio’s, a coarse and garrulous young man, Gratiano is Shylock’s most vocal and insulting critic during the trial. While Bassanio courts Portia, Gratiano falls in love with and eventually weds Portia’s lady-in-waiting, Nerissa.

Catherine of France: Henry V’s betrothed. Gender fluid.
John Falstaff: Henry’s former mentor of all things debauched. Gender fluid
