PREPARATION
Prepare all sides and music for your character/type. If asked, please be prepared to sing 32 bars of a song in the style of the show and the role you are auditioning for. Please also bring your audition book.

All actors submitted must have very strong musicianship skills and must be able to move well. Comedy ability is also a must.
JOAN SMITH Female, 20's - 30's, Caucasian, Jewish housewife. Strong actor with an amazing voice, commanding stage presence yet grounded and highly smart. Married for 6 years. Real name: Chaia Bayla Frankel. Born to Jewish immigrant parents who changed their name upon arriving at Ellis Island right before the start of WWII. She has not told anyone that she's really Jewish. The other girls are slightly jealous because Joan appears to 'have everything'. Pop/Rock Alto. Hairdo: Annette Funicello. Fashion sense: Act 1 - 50's Sophisticated; Act 2 - 60’s Hippie Chic
CONNIE OLSEN Female, 20's-30's, Caucasian, All-American housewife. Strong actor with a great voice. Actors that are genuinely funny and great with comedy. Blonde, blue-eyed and of Scandinavian descent. Married for 2 years. Nine months pregnant with 1st child and about to 'burst', in more ways than one. Her husband Thor is a shoe salesman at JC PENNEY. He is never home, so Connie dreams. Pop/Rock Mezzo. Hairdo: short 'bob' Fashion sense: maternity... sailor's outfits with matching hat and uncomfortable patent-leather shoes
DOTTIE O’FARRELL Female, 20's-30's, Caucasian, Catholic housewife married to her high school sweetheart. Comedians who can sing well. This role needs actors who are funny! Must also be exceptional with physical comedy. She is a big girl with an even bigger personality She had a 'shotgun' wedding at 17. She already has 4 children. Her husband Jim is a repairman for Bell Telephone. She's forever on the latest fad diet. Pop/rock Mezzo with a legit soprano. Hairdo: teased to the max Fashion sense: none
AGNES CROOKSHANK Female, 20's-30's, authentically Latina. She is single, sexy and sultry. Strong actor with great comedic ability and an exceptional singer. She wants to 'be somebody' and fancies herself 'too big for the small town mentality'. She loves to sing, act and dance. Pop/Rock; Funky Belt – belt up to Eb. A beltress. Hairdo: glamorous. She “gets out” of Winnetka and changes her name to Maria Magenta. Fashion sense: Brigitte Bardot
FEMALE SWING Female, early to mid-twenties, Caucasian. A tremendous actor with a strong background in comedy. Must have a fabulous voice – a mix/belter with a strong legit soprano. This swing will cover all four of the principal roles.
