LT J.G. Daniel Kaffee
Navy JAG lawyer, six months on the job, mid-late 20’s to 30. Extremely bright he is a very good lawyer, but as the son of a famous lawyer he has very big shoes to fill which haunts him. He can be bit of a smart ass, but charming as well. He's a Peter Pan who must finally grow up and accept responsibility. His emerging sense of justice surprises even him.

LT CMDR. Joanne Galloway
Navy JAG lawyer, internal affairs. Mid to late 20’s. Determined to follow the rules to the point of being rigid but also to do what is right. She is not a trial lawyer, but wants to be. Has a lot to prove as a woman in a man’s world but not above using her femininity when he serves her purpose. She can be very persuasive.

LT. COL Nathan Jessup
Commanding Office, Marine Ground Forces, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. A rising star in the Department of Defense. Age 38-45. Driven and absolute in his belief in the Marine Corp and the unwritten code of behavior that his men follow. He believes his business to be ''life and death'' and therefore his actions to be acceptable if preventing casualties. He is fierce, physically-intimidating, powerful, and unafraid. He's arrogant to the point of believing America will fall without his leadership in this pre-9/11 world.

LT. J.G. Sam Weinburg
Navy JAG lawyer, 30s: assigned to assist Kaffee on the Dawson and Downey defense team. A good lawyer and young father, has a strong moral core. He has an excellent mind but just isn't a prime trial lawyer. The kind of guy everyone would want as a best friend.

LT Jack Ross
Prosecuting attorney – has had previous dealings in court with Kaffee, ''Smiling JackRoss'' is a worthy adversary. Charismatic. Loves his job. Self-confident and loves to win Early to mid 30s.

Captain Julius Randolph
Judge hearing the court marital against Dawson and Downey. Age 45-55. Fair and even handed, not without humor but completely aware of the gravity of the case.

Captain Matthew Markinson
Company Commander Marine Rifle Security Company Windward, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He is a former counter intelligence specialist. Age 40-45.Markinson is a career officer, 21 years in the Marine Corp, he is respectful of authority as is any career office, but also smart enough to recognize the flaws in the system. Has conscience pangs over some of the things he's had to do.

PFC William Santiago
Latino, Marine stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Killed in a ''Code Red'' hazing by fellow marines. He is an outsider, sensitive, scared. He has a soft center and probably should have never joined the core.

Lance Cpl. Harold Dawson
African American, early 20’s, Marine stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba accused of murder and conduct unbecoming a United States Marine. He is fiercely loyal and dedicated, honorable and proud. He is also rigid and stubborn but it's this extreme self-discipline that gives meaning to his life.
