BREAKDOWN

The character descriptions below are written as they are identified in the script and in collaboration with the creative team.
1) We list race/ethnicity when specific to the character as written by the playwright, but are otherwise actively seeking all races and ethnicities.
2) We recognize that most characters are written on the gender binary, and so we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles with whom they most identify.
3) As an ADA compliant theatre, we welcome performers of all abilities and will make all possible and reasonable accommodations to cast performers in any role possible.
4) We recognize that no community is homogenous and identity is complex. To that end, the above three guidelines were written with our intention of intersectionality, and are meant to be viewed holistically.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL is performed by seven Principals, eight children, and ten Ensemble.
Seeking:
[JACOB MARLEY/SCHOOLMASTER/TOPPER/BUSINESSMAN] (Male, 30s to 40s, Height between 5’10” and 6’2”, Waist up to 34”, Vocal Range - Bari-tenor: A - high Ab, Any Ethnicity) English and character speaking voices. Must have both authority and imagination as Marley, foppishness as the Schoolmaster, irascible good cheer as Topper, and grotesquely heightened voice as the Businessman. ACTORS OF COLOR are strongly encouraged to audition.
[BOB CRATCHIT/DICK WILKINS/UNDERTAKER’S MAN] (Male, 30s to 40s, Height between 5’8” and 5’11”, Waist up to 34”, Vocal Range - Tenor: C - high A, Any Ethnicity) simple London accent and a Cockney accent. Must be empathetic as Bob Cratchit, youthful as Dick Wilkins, and wily as Undertaker’s Man. ACTORS OF COLOR are strongly encouraged to audition.
