Seeking
Actors for upcoming Equity principal roles for 42nd Street Moon's 2013-14 Season, where we'll be presenting works by Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Charles Strouse and more! All ethnicities encouraged to audition. San Francisco Bay Area actors preferred.

Preparation
Please prepare 2 songs from the Golden Age of B'way: Cole Porter, the Gershwin's, Rodgers & Hart, etc. Sondheim and Jerry Herman are OK. Please no rock musicals or Andrew Lloyd Webber. One classic ballad and one character/comedy song. Please be prepared to sing the entire song.

Character Breakdowns for the first three shows of our 2013-14 Season.

IT'S A BIRD…IT'S A PLANE...IT'S SUPERMAN (Charles Strouse & Lee Adams)
The role of Dr. Sedgwick is precast.
Superman/Clark Kent: Baritone. Early to mid 30s, handsome, 6'2", a bit of an innocent in some ways. Very physical role.
Max Mencken: Tenor. Late 30s - late 40s, handsome but narcissistic and devious. Star columnist of the Daily Planet.
Lois Lane: Mezzo. Late 20s to early 30s. Ace reporter with sense of humor who is hopelessly in love with Superman and sings about it a lot.
Sydney: Alto. Late 20s - mid 30s. Max Mencken's secretary, wise-cracking. Sings "You've Got Possibilities."
Jim Morgan: Lyric Baritone. Early to mid 30s. Dr. Sedgwick's assistant, pleasant young man who is interested in Lois Lane for himself.
Mama Grimaldi: Late 40s to late 50s. Evil head of a family of acrobats who are also criminals.
7 or 8 Actors, male and female, to play Flying Grimaldis (must be acrobatic), Perry White (late 40s- 50s), Marnie, Suzie, Annette and others.

I MARRIED AN ANGEL (Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart)
Note: The play takes place in Budapest and all characters except Anna are Hungarian, but we are not looking for accents.
Count Willy Palaffi: Lyric baritone. Mid 30s to mid 40s. A dashing, debonair banker and member of Budapest high society, ladies' man.
Countess Peggy Palaffi: Soprano. Mid 40s to early 50s. Willy's sister, wise-cracking but still high society, strong sense of humor - comic, elegant.
Brigitta (Angel): Soprano. Early to mid 20s. Beautiful, other-worldly beauty. Air of complete innocence. Doesn't know how to be crafty or wily. Her open angelic ways cause endless embarrassment for her husband.
Harry Mischka Szigetti: Character man with baritone. Late 40s to late 50s. Crafty, a business wheeler-dealer. Had an affair with Peggy many years ago.
Peter Mueller: Tenor or baritone. Late 20s, early 30s. Excellent mover. Willy's assistant - handsome, charming, clever, thinks well on his feet - always has a solution.
Anna Murphy: Alto. Late 20s. Tap dances - an American girl on vacation in Budapest, can be conniving, butter wouldn't melt type.
4 - 5 actors to play multiple roles including:
General Lucash /Anton / Janos: Tenor or baritone. Mid 30s character man.
Olga Madayn: Alto. An actress and Lucash’s mistress.
Duchess of Holstein-Kuhoff: Mezzo. Late 40s to early 60s. Very wealthy, matronly type.
Magda Szabo: Mezzo. 30s to early 40s. A very "close friend" of the Duchess / Modiste - elegant, efficient.
Illona Laszlo/Hannah: Soprano. 20s to 40s. Hannah works for Harry's bank. Illona is a high society type.
Lucinda, Clarinda, Arabella, Rosalina - 4 angels, doubled by Olga, Duchess, Magda, Illona

SNOOPY! ! ! (Larry Grossman & Hal Hackady)
The role of Lucy is precast.
Charlie Brown: Male, 30s, simply Charlie Brown. Lonely yet lovable, simple yet smart, sometimes melancholy yet ever hopeful. Snoopy’s caregiver, wants to be believed in and loved.
Sally Brown: Female, 20s, adorable, perky, creative, spontaneous. Charlie Brown’s sister, the bubbly one in the family.
Linus: Male, 20s, philosopher, down-to-earth, but with insecurity issues as indicated by his almost ever-present blanket. Ever a romantic, believes with his whole heart.
Peppermint Patty: Female, 20s, a tomboy, unaware, frank, doesn’t understand “love,” thinks no one will love her because of her freckles and big nose, must be a strong singer for a deeply felt ballad.
Snoopy: Tenor. 40s or younger. Man’s best friend, enthusiastic, observant, clever, showy, must move well “snappy”.
Woodstock. Female, 20s or 30s, non-speaking role, very small in size, tiny, excellent movement/dancer, a bit “featherbrained".
42nd Street Moon presents intimately produced versions of uncommon musicals, specializing in early to mid-20th Century American Musical Theatre. Since 2008, our shows have been fully staged, with choreography and are performed off-book. The 2013-14 Season will be the company's 21st season.

PAINTING THE CLOUDS WITH SUNSHINE (MacKellan/Kaufmann). Rehs. start March 11, 2014; runs Apr. 2 - 20, 2014.

THE NEW YORKERS (Porter/Fields). Rehs. start Apr. 8; runs Apr. 30 - May 18.

Regular performance schedule: Wednesdays at 7 pm; Thursdays and Fridays at 8 pm; Saturdays at 6 pm; Sundays at 3 pm. There is one added Saturday Family Matinee at 1 pm in the second week of each run.
