The Color Purple, the poignant musical based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, paints a powerful portrait of resilience and hope in the face of oppression. Set in the American South during the first half of the 20th century, the story follows Celie, a young Black woman subjected to unimaginable hardship. Abused by her father and then sold into a loveless marriage, Celie endures years of violence and degradation.

Through her friendship with the fiercely independent Shug Avery and her younger sister Nettie, who escapes their abusive father, Celie finds a glimmer of light. The Color Purple features a powerful and moving score that blends gospel, blues, and jazz influences. The music perfectly captures the characters' emotions, their struggles, and their moments of joy.
