Mid-Michigan's award winning professional theatre company, Williamston Theatre, located at 122 S. Putnam Street in downtown Williamston, reunites with Michigan Playwright Joseph Zettelmaier for the World Premiere of THE DECADE DANCE. Performances begin Thursday, March 31 and run through Sunday, May 1. Tickets for this look at one couple's journey through the 1970's are now on sale.

THE DECADE DANCE begins with five Preview performances starting Thursday, March 31. During the first four Previews audience members will have the opportunity to take part in the process of creating a show by participating in a talkback session with the director following each performance. The Official Opening Night is Friday, April 8 at 8PM with the show scheduled to run through Sunday, May 1. Performances will run Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8PM and Sunday matinees at 2PM with additional 3PM matinees on Saturdays starting April 9.

Roger Weems, recently returned from Vietnam, meets Nina Reynolds, a student activist, during a Kent State rally. A one-night stand becomes a ten-year journey as Roger and Nina navigate a relationship against the backdrop of a turbulent decade. Ten scenes set against various social events of the 70s provide a glimpse into a country trying to find itself, and two people trying to find their place in it. (Contains mature language/content.)

Michigan playwright Joseph Zettelmaier returns once again to the Williamston Theatre. He is the recipient of two Edgerton Foundation New American Plays Awards for Dead Man's Shoes and It Came From Mars, both of which were co-productions between the Williamston Theatre and the Performance Network. He is a four-time nominee for the American Theatre Critics Award for Best New Play (All Childish Things in 2006, Language Lessons in 2007, It Came From Mars in 2010, and Dead Man's Shoes in 2012.). His work has also won awards for the Best Locally Created Script and Best New Play (Ann Arbor News), Best New Play (Oakland Press and Wilde Awards), and has been selected as a part of the National New Play Network's Festival of New Plays. His play, And The Creek Don't Rise, is currently Williamston Theatre's best selling show.

As part of our 10th Season Celebration we have added "Conversation Sundays" to each production. The "Conversation Sunday" for THE DECADE DANCE will be Sunday, April 24 starting a few minutes after the show ends. You do not need to attend the show that day to participate in the "Conversation Sunday". We are still putting together the speakers for that day, but hope to include the cast, director and playwright. Please call the theatre if you would like more details.

The cast of THE DECADE DANCE consists of Mitchell Koory and Tiffany Mitchenor (Maidens, Mothers and Crones). The Director is Joey Albright (And The Creek Don't Rise). The production team includes Set Design by Bartley H. Bauer (The Art of Murder, Miracle on South Division Street), Lighting Design by Daniel C. Walker (The Woman in Black, 10:53), Costume Design by Karen Kangas-Preston (Too Much, Too Much, Too Many, The Gravedigger), Sound Design by Julia Garlotte (Old Love, The Woman in Black) and Props Design by Michelle Raymond (Rounding Third, The Art of Murder). The Stage Manager is Stefanie Din.
