Stagecrafters announces its 2017-18 season, themed "Celebration of Friendship, Family and Theatre," featuring ten shows among its Main Stage, 2nd Stage and Youth Theatre offerings. The five Main Stage shows include Broadway-style musicals and plays. 2nd Stage, located in the former balcony of the Baldwin Theatre, offers three contemporary and primarily off-Broadway style shows. Stagecrafters Youth Theatre (SYT), performed by actors ages 8 - 18, presents two musicals on the Main Stage.

The season kicks off in July with The Youth Theatre's ambitious production of Footloose, followed in September by Main Stage's Sister Act, the hilarious, five-time Tony-nominated musical smash. In October, 2nd Stage opens with Detroit '67, a drama taking place during the Detroit riot of 1967, with 2017 marking the 50th anniversary of this significant point in Detroit's history.

"I couldn't be more excited about the upcoming season," says Executive Director Tyler MacEachran. "We have put together something for all ages and interests - from musicals to thought-provoking stories to suspenseful dramas."

Many of this year's shows revolve around the importance that family and friends play in our lives. "Our theme this year goes hand-in-hand with community theatre in so many ways," MacEachran comments. "From family and friends of the cast and crew coming out to show support, to parents introducing their children to theatre for the first time to the community enjoying an evening or an afternoon together, Stagecrafters offers everyone quality theatre at an affordable price."
