SONS OF THE PROPHET Plays 4/5-29 at Ferndale's Ringwald Theatre

Ferndale's Ringwald Theatre will present Stephan Karam's play Sons of the Prophet from April 5-29, 2013. A blisteringly funny play about human suffering, Sons of the Prophet makes its Michigan premiere at The Ringwald, recently voted by Real Detroit readers as the Best Theatre Company in Detroit.

Sons of the Prophet was shortlisted for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize and won the 2012 Drama Critics Circle and 2012 Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Play.

If to live is to suffer, then Joseph Douaihy is more alive than most. A once-promising runner and distant, distant relation to Khalil Gibran, author of the perennial bestseller The Prophet, Joseph is now sidelined by injury; his health, sanity, and insurance premiums are on the line. Sons of the Prophet features Sean McGettigan (Joseph Douaihy), Robbie Dwight (Charles Douaihy), the stage return of Marty Bufalini (Bill Douaihy), Lisa Melinn (Gloria), Christopher Tucker (Vin), Richard Payton (Timothy), Amy Probst (Woman 1), Jasmine Rivera (Woman 2), and Katy Schoetzow (Woman 3).

Director Annette Madias returns to The Ringwald fresh from her previous directing triumph, The Homosexuals. The design team is rounded out by Kristopher Walby (set) and Joe Plambeck (lights/sound design).

Sons of the Prophet opens Friday, April 5th and plays through Monday, April 29th at 8pm on Friday, Saturday and Monday nights with 3pm Sunday matinees. Ticket prices are $20.00 for Friday and Saturday performances, $15 for Sunday shows, and Monday nights are HALF OFF the original ticket price at only $10 a ticket. All students can now receive a $5 discount off normal ticket price on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday performances (available at the box office the day of the show with valid student ID). The Ringwald opened their doors six years ago on May 11, 2007 with Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy. Quickly, The Ringwald became a mainstay of Detroit's theatre community.
