After keeping holiday audiences rolling in the aisles, Who Wants Cake? brings The Book of Liz, another Sedaris treat, to Ferndale’s The Ringwald Theatre for a four week summer run. The Book of Liz is written by the hilarious sibling team, David and Amy Sedaris, and will play Friday, Saturday, and Monday nights at 8PM from July 10 through August 3rd.

Comedy writers, siblings, and outrageously hilarious, David Sedaris and Amy Sedaris team their
considerable talents for The Book of Liz, a wild, wacky (but ultimately sweet) parable about the
adventures of Sister Elizabeth Donderstock, who is Squeamish and has been her whole life. She makes cheese balls (traditional and smoky) that sustain the existence of her entire religious community, Cluster Haven. However, she feels unappreciated among her Squeamish brethren and decides to try her luck in the noisy and bustling outside world.

David Sedaris also penned Who Wants Cake?’s Yuletide tradition, The Santaland Diaries, and is a regular commentator for National Public Radio. As an author, his books Barrel Fever, Naked, Holidays on Ice, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, and When You Are Engulfed in Flames have all been bestsellers. Like her older brother, Amy Sedaris is a hilarious comedienne and bestselling author of the kooky entertaining and cooking book, I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence. Amy was also the creator and star of the Comedy Central cult classic, Strangers with Candy.

Who Wants Cake? opened the doors to their resident home, The Ringwald, in May 2007 with Fatal
Attraction: A Greek Tragedy. Quickly, The Ringwald became a mainstay of Detroit’s theatre community. Since opening their doors, Who Wants Cake? has been offering up slice after slice of successful shows including Southern Baptist Sissies, Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical, Bug, The Facts of Life: The Lost Episode, Killer Joe, and The Bad Seed. Who Wants Cake? was named the 2008 Best Theatre Group in Channel 4’s Vote 4 The Best contest.

Tickets for The Book of Liz are $20 for the 8PM Friday and Saturday performances and Monday 8PM shows are half off regular priced tickets at only $10.00 a ticket.

Reservations may be made by phone at 248-545-5545 or online at www.WhoWantsCakeTheatre.com.

The box office opens 45 minutes before performances.
