Who Wants Cake? is thrilled to present its next late night venture, Harry Gibson’s stage adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting. Trainspotting will play for an exclusive four-week run at Ferndale’s The Ringwald Theatre from May 29th through June 22nd. Performances will be Friday and Saturdays nights at 10:00 PM with two 8:00PM Monday performances on June 15th and June 22nd.

Irvine Welsh’s novel, Trainspotting, exploded onto the scene in 1993, stunning audiences with its bleak and darkly humorous depiction of the decaying friendships of a bunch of no-hopers, heroin addicts and petty criminals attempting to escape the boredom of their lives. Harry Gibson’s theatrical adaptation debuted in 1994 to great acclaim before Danny Boyle’s 1996 film version made Trainspotting a cultural landmark. The story follows Renton, Sick Boy, Tommy and Begbie as they embark on an horrific journey to the heart of a world peopled by psychos, junkies, and drunk Scottish fathers.

Who Wants Cake? opened the doors to their resident home, The Ringwald, in May 2007 with Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy. Quickly, The Ringwald became a mainstay of Detroit’s theatre community. Their first season offered up slice after slice of successful shows including Southern Baptist Sissies, Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical, Bug, and The Facts of Life: The Lost Episode, The Bad Seed, and Killer Joe. Who Wants Cake? was named the 2008 Best Theatre Group in Channel 4’s Vote 4 The Best contest.

Tickets for Trainspotting are $10 for all performances. Anyone attending the 8PM show of the one-man musical, Songs from an Unmade Bed on Saturday, May 30th can attend Trainspotting for only $5!

Reservations may be made by phone at 248-545-5545 or online at www.WhoWantsCakeTheatre.com. The box office opens 45 minutes before performances.
