Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company of Detroit is set to host a performance of True West, written by Sam Shepard and featuring Jim Parrack of television's True Blood. The play will take place on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, November 13, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. True West will be presented at 1515 Broadway, Detroit, MI 48226. Admission will be by a suggested donation of $10, although all are welcome regardless of their ability to make the donation. All profits will benefit a local charity. True West is presented by 120 Productions and Rabbit Bandini Productions, James Franco's production company.

In True West, Austin, a successful screenwriter, is surprised by a visit from his brother Lee, who has come to steal some items from their mother's house, which Austin is house-sitting. The rivalry between the brothers comes to a head when Lee pitches an idea for a film to a producer who has come to hear about Austin's latest work, and the producer becomes very interested - provided Austin helps Lee to write the script. Things between him and Austin gradually reach a fever pitch as they work on the screenplay, leading to a surprising, but perhaps inevitable, conclusion.

The cast includes Jim Parrack as Austin, Scott Haze as Lee, Vincent Jolivette as Saul Kimmer and Betsy Franco as Mom.
