Richard Goode and Sarah Schafer first met in 2010 when Goode, then artistic director of the famed Marlboro Music Festival, heard Shafer audition and was immediately taken with her vocal purity and musical depth. The two have maintained an active collaboration ever since, appearing recently at Carnegie Hall and with the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society and the Gilmore Festival in Kalamazoo.

Richard Goode has been hailed for music-making of tremendous emotional power, depth and expressiveness, and has been acknowledged worldwide as one of today's leading interpreters of Classical and Romantic music. In regular performances with the major orchestras, recitals in the world's music capitals, and through his extensive and acclaimed Nonesuch recordings, he has won a large and devoted following.

Goode will be heard in recital this season in London, Paris, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Montreal, Toronto, and at colleges and universities around the country, in addition to his CMSDetroit appearance. In New York, he plays a recital at the 92nd Street Y and a Mozart Concerto with the New York Philharmonic.

Sarah Shafer, praised by The New York Times for her luminous voice and her intensely expressive interpretations, has enjoyed an active collaboration with Richard Goode, appearing with him in Carnegie Hall, with the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, and at Michigan's Gilmore Festival in Kalamazoo. She made her Metropolitan Opera and Cincinnati Opera debuts last season, and was praised by Opera America as remarkable, artistically mature ... a singer to watch. The 2018 2019 season will see Ms. Shafer make her San Diego Opera debut and she will appear in concert with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of New York.
