Monty Python's SPAMALOT in Broadway MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT
Breckenridge Backstage Theatre
6/15-7/21/2018
Rude Frenchmen, cancan dancers, the Lady of the Lake and her Laker Girls, Killer rabbits, catapulting cows, and the somewhat odd Knights Who Say "Ni" are just part of the adventures and dangers awaiting King Arthur and his Knights of the very very very round table in their quest for the Holy Grail in Monty Python’s Spamalot, playing at the Breckenridge Backstage Theatre form June 15 thru July 21. Lovingly ripped off from the motion picture, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot is the irreverent musical parody of the Arthurian legend making its return visit to Breckenridge after a sold-out run in 2014. The original Broadway production, directed by Mike Nichols and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, was nominated for 14 Tony Awards, winning three, including Best New Musical. During its initial run, it was seen by more than two million people. Directed by Robert Michael Sanders (BBT’s The Producers) and choreographed by Piper Arpan (original Broadway tour of Spamalot), the quest for the Grail is led by King Arthur (Scott McLean), with his trusty servant Patsy (Eli Stewart). Playing his gallant knights - and a broad assortment of other characters - are Nick Johnson as Sir Lancelot the Homicidally Brave, Mark Middlebrooks as Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-as-Sir-Lancelot, Barret Harper as Sir Galahad the Dashingly Handsome, Brian Trampler as Sir Bedevere the Strangely Flatulent, and Leiney Rigg as The Lady of the Lake. The supporting cast includes Benji Billman, Lindsay Blackmon, Chelley Canales, Cody Ceniti, Jose David Ben Fowler, Lindsay Fuller, Steph Holmbo, and Erik Petersen.

OUR TEACHER'S A TROLL in Broadway OUR TEACHER'S A TROLL
Breckenridge Backstage Theatre
6/22-7/21/2018
Holly and Sean are the terrible twins who are so naughty that the headteacher of their primary school, Mrs Spike, is found gibbering in the sandpit. But her replacement proves more than a match for the twins – he’s a troll! Any child who misbehaves or protests at the new rules – which include child labor and eating brussels sprouts in peanut butter for lunch – gets their head bitten off. Are the bright and sparky Holly and Sean tough enough to find a way to bring a halt to the Troll’s reign of terror? Dennis Kelly, who wrote the book for the hit musical, Matilda, has created a gleefully nasty tale of triumph over adversity for the over-sevens. This is top-shelf storytelling directed by BBT Artistic Director Christopher Willard (Lion, Witch, Wardrobe and Babe The Sheep-Pig) which boasts an ideal intimacy, audience interactivity, and lots of laughs. Steph Holmbo, Ben Fowler, and Erik Petersen are the yeoman actors who play all the roles in this fast-paced, family-friendly comedy - with bite. The story can be read in several different ways as parents, superintendent, policeman – even the state governor – refuse to believe what the children are telling them. In the end, of course, the children have to take matters into their own hands and the Davids triumph over Goliath. It’s good, nasty fun that shows that while asking “Why?” can be a wind-up, it can also save your life. ‘A celebration of naughtiness and questioning, it's a raucous, skin-crawling treat.’ Guardian ‘A hilarious dark fable.’ Herald

What happens when emotions come in conflict with principles, and how do choices under pressure define who we really are? It’s a testing ground for what happens when personal and professional personas find themselves at odds. The Full Monty in Broadway THE FULL MONTY
PACE Center
7/20-8/5/2018
In this musical comedy based off the film of the same name, six down-on-their-luck steel workers create their own strip-tease act after seeing their wives enthusiasm for a group of Chippendale’s, and end up reclaiming their lives in the process. Despite losing their jobs, despite struggling to maintain relationships with their wives and children, the boys have a shining bit of optimism that manages to shine through their dreary circumstances. In songs like the hilariously dark “Big Ass Rock,” or the moving “Breeze off the River,” the journey to going “the full monty” is full of absurdist gallows humor and a whole lot of heart. Music and lyrics by David Yazbek. Book by Terrence McNally
