It's been 40 years since BDT Stage (then Boulder's Dinner Theatre) opened its doors. The curtain rose that night and Joseph graced the boards in his amazing Technicolor dreamcoat. A lot has changed in the last four decades, but 10,000+ performances later, BDT Stage is bringing back the show that started it all. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat begins preview performances May 13, playing all summer long, through August 19, 2017.

One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the irresistible family musical about the trials and triumphs of Joseph, Israel's favorite son. The first collaboration of composer Andrew Lloyd Webber (Jesus Christ Superstar, Phantom of the Opera, Cats) and lyricist Tim Rice (Jesus Christ Superstar, The Lion King), Joseph blends pop, country, and rock into an uplifting story of biblical proportions! Retelling the parable of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colors, this magical musical is full of unforgettable songs including Those Canaan Days, Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door.

"We've been looking forward to this summer's production of Joseph for a long time!" says BDT Stage artistic director Michael J. Duran. "We're really excited to present the show we opened with 40 years ago - it's a timeless and magical show to see performed on stage. But we have some tricks up our sleeve for sure! Don't think you've seen this show before; I promise you there will be some pretty incredible surprises you won't want to miss!" In 1977, Duran launched his acting career in BDT's inaugural production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. "Returning to this show is like coming home," he said.

BDT cast Jack Barton in the role of Joseph, and Tracy Warren as the Narrator. Directed by Matthew D. Peters. Choreographed by Alicia K. Meyers.

Boulder's Daily Camera praises BDT's "consistency in technical achievement, performance and overall production level as it sets a high standard for theatrical professionalism." BDT Stage rounds out its 39th season with family favorite Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, opening on May 13. BDT Stage just announced its 40th season, featuring Rock of Ages, Annie, Always...Patsy Cline, and The Little Mermaid. Tickets to all performances are on sale now.
