There'll be magic and mayhem as Avon High School stages the Tony-Award-winning Broadway musical Pippin, featuring the music and lyrics of Stephen Schwartz, a book by Roger O. Hirson and choreography by Bob Fosse. This colorful show, recommended for ages 13 and up, is filled with dancing, illusions and beloved musical numbers like Magic to Do and Corner of the Sky. Performances, which feature a cast, crew and pit orchestra composed of more than 70 talented Avon High School students, run April 26-28 at the Avon High School (AHS) Auditorium. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Pippin, which opened on Broadway in 1972, is the story of the son of medieval ruler Charlemagne. In this historical fiction tale written with artistic license, audiences meet Pippin, a young man yearning for fulfillment and willing to take a variety of paths to find it. Avon High School's production is based on the 2013 Broadway revival version of the show, while maintaining the original theme of a medieval traveling performance troupe.
