Local celebrity Cabot Rea's daughter Cassie returns from NYC to team up with her father in NPAC's production of this classic musical.

The Fantasticks tells an allegorical story concerning two neighboring fathers who trick their children, Luisa and Matt, into falling in love by pretending to feud. This show reminds us of the near-magical ability of humans to address challenges, transcend and translate them into personal and collective growth opportunities. Life often presents a "First Act" of idealism followed by "Second Act” realism. This show reminds us that things often need to “die a little” for there to be new and greater growth. The original Off-Broadway production ran 17,162 performances over 42 years, making it the world's longest-running musical. The show was revived Off-Broadway from 2006 to 2017 and is among the top musical theatre classics.

Concurrently, Otterbein University is bringing to the NPAC lobby the photography of Tariq Tarey's Another Place exhibit with poetry by Ladan Osman, which tell a story that humanizes the experience of refugees. NPAC is located in the heart of the largest "immigration gateway" in a multi-state region with substantial refugee communities.

This event is produced in conjunction with Vaud-Villities Productions and receives funding from Puffin Foundation West and the Greater Columbus Arts Council.
