BWW Review: 2017 FORE! Miler by OhioHealth - Kicking Off the Memorial Tournament in Pure Columbus Form

There's a saying in Columbus that if you don't like the weather, then don't worry because it will change in 10 minutes anyway. That was certainly true of this year's Third Annual FORE! Miler held in conjunction with the 42nd playing of the PGA TOUR at Muirfield Village Golf Club, where severe thunderstorms threatened a possible postponement of the race. However, in pure Columbus fashion, skies cleared at the start of the run, followed by light then heavy rain then back to clearing throughout the duration of the four miles. The looming treacherous conditions seemed to scare off some participants, especially those who may have been victim to the canceling of the Capital City Half Marathon held in May where the race was shut down mid-run due to severe weather.

For about 2,500 participants, however, they laced up their shoes, put on their ponchos and took a nice tour of the beautiful Dublin neighborhoods and Muirfield Village Golf Club to finish right on the 18th Hole of the legendary course. Fan support was a little lacking this year because of the conditions, but true supporters came out to cheer us on. Afterwards, runners and family members celebrated inside the Champions Pavilion, which was moved from the original location at the Golden Bear Club between the fairway at Hole No. 10 and the green at No. 14 due to weather conditions.

Once again, the band SWAGG was featured at the post-race party where they rocked out to celebrate this awesome event.

Check out a sneak peek below!

Finishers received the best swag, including one complimentary drink (beer, wine, or select mixed drinks), an awesome one-of-a-kind finisher's medal, a FORE! Miler-themed short sleeve gender-specific tech race shirt, and one ticket to the Memorial Tournament Practice Round ($35 value), with Wednesday's ticket including access to the Official Pro-Am and Memorial Honoree Ceremony).

Kudos to M3S Sports, OhioHealth, the Memorial Tournament, and all the amazing volunteers and sponsors who once again helped to not only celebrate health, fitness, and professional golf, but to also benefit the alliance between Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation and Nationwide Children's Hospital. Certainly a win-win for all!
