Bluelaces Theater Company creates highly interactive, sensory-based theatrical experiences for people of all ages living with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental differences. Bluelaces believes that all individuals, regardless of ability status, should have the opportunity to experience the magic of theater in a lively and welcoming environment. We strive to create programming that is both artistically and economically accessible. Our productions offer individuals with developmental differences and their caregivers the ability to experience theater together, free from behavioral expectations. We challenge the limitations of theatrical convention to create immersive, multi-sensory adventures. In addition to our productions, we collaborate with schools and community organizations to offer educational drama programming.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Bluelaces Theater Co. is look for a Marketing and Communications Director to wear multiple hats, covering marketing, PR, and graphic design, and serve as a member of the Bluelaces senior leadership team. You will focus on growing new audiences while retaining and deepening relationships with current audiences. Additionally, you will shape public perception of Bluelaces through dedication to brand identity via print communications, electronic media, and media relations. As this role is part of a new and growing non-profit company, you will be eager to grow and change with it.



BREAKDOWN OF RESPONSIBILITIES



MARKETING

Collaborate with the Executive Director and Co-Artistic Directors to ensure a clear and accurate interpretation of the organization’s vision and direction

Develop, design, and implement a content and social media plan and to ensure all online activities are fully-integrated in campaigns (on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)

Manage and update the company's website

Plan and implement email marketing campaigns for various fundraising initiatives

Manage post-show audience surveys to research the attitudes and opinions of each production’s audiences

Oversee the archiving of all press clippings, video clips, and photo library



PUBLIC RELATIONS

Generate continued greater awareness for the company and targeted interest for specific events

Write and distribute press releases to media and submit online and print calendar listings

Cultivate and maintain media contacts in order to generate relevant stories, interviews and other media coverage for Bluelaces: solicit, arrange and organize media interviews (print, online, podcast, and TV); serve as the contact person for all media inquiries

Work with other organizations to build collaborative and supportive relationships

Coordinate and oversee photo and video sessions for PR, marketing, and Social Story purposes



GRAPHIC DESIGN

Write, edit, and produce all publications: brochures, direct marketing pieces, etc.; update the company resource guide

Design all social media posts and online ads

Coordinate with production-specific graphic designers

Design logos for new programming as needed



QUALIFICATIONS

1-3 years marketing and PR experience, within the arts, entertainment industry and/or not-for-profit sector

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

A genuine interest in and knowledge of inclusive theater for all abilities



YOU ARE...

A creative thinker, excited about initiating new ideas and concepts

A first class written and verbal communicator

Confident in your strong writing skills for multiple audiences (ad copy, press releases, show descriptions, email communications, social media updates)

Able to manage multiple projects concurrently, remaining privy to details while juggling various priorities

Flexible: a true self-starter and key team player, able to work independently and coordinate with others; able to adapt to changing situations and work successfully under pressure to meet deadlines and goals

Proficient with Photoshop and major social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)

Comfortable with serving in a leadership position within a non-profit organization



DESIRED SKILLS

Strong knowledge of and experience in public relations of the performing arts, ideally with excellent contacts

Experience in the theatre, events or creative industries

Proficient with InDesign and Wix.com

Basic video editing skills
