I'm a playwright, producer, performer, and educator based in NYC. Throughout my years of working and training as an actor, I struggled to find monologues that worked for me. Even if I found a piece I loved, the caveats were infinite—it was too overdone, not audition appropriate, not my type, not quite in my age range, not emotionally varied enough, not funny enough, not stimulating enough, not quite right for the role for which I was auditioning...I could go on and on. And I knew that I was not alone in this struggle. My peers—especially my female peers—constantly lamented the challenge of finding monologues that resonated with them personally and worked for auditions. In 2015, I took it upon myself to start a massive monologue archive. I spent months researching emerging playwrights and reading their work, scouring hundreds of plays for every type of monologue imaginable. It was an arduous process, but well worth it! As the archive grew and grew, I found myself on the receiving end of monologue requests from friends. I discovered that I had a knack for identifying and tailoring material to suit each person’s specific needs. As the demand for monologues increased, the seed for Monologuista was sewn!

FAQ



What information do you need from me before you begin your search?

In order for me to get a sense of who you are as an actor and person, I need your headshot (or a decent photo of just you), your acting bio and/or resume, and either your demo reel OR a brief introductory video in which you tell me a bit about yourself. Need a monologue for an audition? Send me the breakdown. Need material for a class? Tell me about the class! Basically, the more information you provide, the better. If you are preparing for an audition that also requires a song, be sure to let me know your song choice, as it will inform my monologue selection.



What exactly do I have to do for this introduction video? Does it need to be professional quality?

Not at all! It can be a video you make on your smartphone or laptop—anything goes as long as you make sure that you can be seen and heard clearly! In the video:

· State your name.

· State your age range. If you already have a sense of your “type,” be sure to mention that, too.

· Tell me about a role you feel you were born to play!

· Briefly describe a favorite previous acting experience—what was it and what did you love about it?



Can you provide monologues for kids and teens?

You bet!



What types of monologues can I request?

Anything under the sun! If for some reason I’m unclear about your request, I will discuss it further with you.



If I’m requesting more than one monologue, do they each need to be different types?

Nope! If you need four contemporary comedic monologues, I’ve got you covered!



What if I don’t like the monologue you select for me?

For no additional cost, I will provide a second option.



What if I don’t like that monologue either?

Fear not! For just $10 more, I will take one more shot at a monologue just for you.
