In March 2006, GVT was designated WestVirginia's State Professional Theatre.Job DescriptionThe position is responsible for the execution and operation of scenic designs, theoversight/management of production staff, and the scene shop space and its use. The TD alsoassists in the management of events and other uses of the theatre space and in the maintenance ofthe facilities and storage. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and proven workexperience in scenic construction techniques, rigging, basic tool maintenance, and time and crewmanagement within a professional s? Work with volunteers as necessary.? Supervise scene shop and insure the shop?s cleanliness and safety.? Follow all safety procedures as outlined in the Procedures Manual.? Supervise interns, apprentices, and overhires when assigned to crews or shop duties.? Be a creative part of the team at GVT and contribute to building the theatre and its programs,including all fundraising efforts of the theatre and rentals of the facility and equipment.? Serve as a representative of GVT in a professional capacity where necessary.? Handle donations of physical items - furniture, props, etc.? Meet the city?s requirements for sidewalk snow removal.? Work with the PM on any capital improvements.? Manage the maintenance, installation, and inventory of all technical equipment.? Protect all equipment from abusive use or non-production related use.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily. While performing the duties of this job,the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms andtalk or hear. Theemployee also works on elevated catwalks, lifts and ladders, works with high voltage electricalequipment, uses paints, stains and finishes, and uses power tools.Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employeeencounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
