Summer Camp Dance Specialist - Elmwood Day Camp

Elmwood Day Camp is seeking a Dance Specialist for the summer of 2019 to join our camp family. The Dance Specialist at Elmwood is a part of our team of trained specialists who are each dedicated to the development of each camper’s skills in their specialized activity.



Responsibilities with campers include but are not limited to:

-      Developing an age appropriate gymnastics curriculum

-      Teaching the fundamentals of dance and various skills to small groups of campers

-      Choreographing for camp shows

-       Managing camper progress with these skills

-       Giving direction to counselors to utilize them within activity

-       Ensuring campers safety and well-being

-       Communicating with Athletic Director

-       Being part of the camp community

 

The Dance Specialist position is a full-time commitment of 8 weeks – Monday through Friday from 8:20 – 4:10, plus 2-3 days of mandatory staff orientation.



The right candidate is:

- College student or graduate

- Previous experience working with kids

- Background experience in dance

  

Elmwood is a children’s day camp located in Westchester, NY, in a beautiful wooded residential section of White Plains. As a part of the Elmwood team, staff members are sure to enjoy the challenges, triumphs, responsibilities, rewards and fun that make up each day. We believe that in the process of making Elmwood “a great place to be me” for each camper, our staff members find that they too are in “a great place to be me”. We have a high energy and friendly staff. We offer optional staff rec events in the evenings to allow staff to get to know each other after the camp day.

 

Camp Dates: June 27 – August 22 (closed Thursday July 4 and Friday July 5)
