Summer 2020 Apprentice Program - Theatre Aspen

Theatre Aspen is now inviting applicants to apply for the 2020 Theatre Aspen Apprentice Program. Located in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, Theatre Aspen sits in the Rio Grande Park in downtown Aspen, Colorado, and is the region’s only professional theatre company. The 2020 Summer Season will consist of 2 Musicals and 1 Play as well as summertime cabarets and educational productions.



For nearly a decade, the Theatre Aspen Apprentice Program for aspiring theatre professionals has been offering the opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience with professionals in their fields and the opportunity to observe and assist in the theatrical production process from start to finish. Apprenticeships are offered in areas including: Company Management; Costuming & Wardrobe; Theatre Education; Development; Lighting Design; Marketing & Social Media; Music Direction; Performance; Sound Design; Stage Management; and Stagecraft & Production.



Apprentices will make valuable connections and develop career skills by working on the main stage, participating in special events, assisting in the administrative office and front of house and through available teaching opportunities in the Theatre Aspen School. While at Theatre Aspen, all apprentices will have the opportunity to work with creative team members and will attend weekly seminars taught by Theatre Aspen staff and other leading industry professionals. The Apprentice program culminates in a Showcase that the apprentice class completely conceives, produces, creates, and performs.



Apprentices will be in Aspen for the entirety of the Theatre Aspen summer season from mid-May through August. Travel and housing are included, as is a weekly stipend. Theatre Aspen Apprentices in Performance and Stage Management may also have the opportunity to earn points towards their Actors’ Equity Association membership.



Administration, Education, and Design/Tech Apprentice applications are accepted beginning November 1, 2019 and are due by February 1, 2020.



Performance Apprentice applications are accepted beginning January 1, 2020 and are due by March 1, 2020.



All applicants must be attending or recently graduated from college or accreditation program for theatre arts.
