Job Description:Under the Supervision of the Production Manager, the Stage Manager?s role is to facilitate rehearsals, performances, and events for The Washington Ballet?s performing company (TWB) and The Washington School of Ballet (TWSB).Responsibilities:Serve as the principal Stage Manager for all Company and Studio Company performances, and TWB and TWSB events as assigned.Serve as the primary show caller and run tech rehearsals for all Company and Studio Company performances, and TWB and TWSB events as assigned.Tape out/mark studios (England, Phillips, Studio 2, and Studio 3) to venue specs, updating as new information arises. This includes, but is not limited to, centers, quarters, eighths, wing locations, spike marks, and scenic marks. Refresh marks as needed.Facilitate technical needs in rehearsal (i.e., props, scenery, music, floor marks, etc.).Check in with rehearsals, keeping tabs on needs and questions. As requested, create and disseminate daily rehearsal reports.Check studios daily to ensure they are ready for company class, rehearsals, and events (i.e., temperature, cleanliness, audio systems functional, etc.). Liaise with the Facilities Manager to resolve issues promptly.Proactively seek out any recorded music needs for rehearsals. Install music on the studio audio systems and update as needed. Upon request, provide the music on USBs for anyone running a rehearsal.Source rehearsal props as needed.When needed, set and strike props and scenery before, during, and after rehearsals and studio performances/events.Research and create show running paperwork, such as calling sheets, deck run sheets, follow spot run sheets, etc.Archive ?As Run? paperwork and recorded performance tracks.Serve as the day-to-day communications hub between the Artistic and Production Departments.Record rehearsals as requested. Disseminate as required.Maintain TWB?s Vimeo account for rehearsal, rental, and other needs. Upload videos as requested, and share with dancers, rptiteurs, choreographers, etc.Participate in all production and venue meetings.Train and supervise Assistant Stage Managers and Production Assistants as needed.Work with the Assistant Stage Manager and Production Assistants to keep them informed of duties and show running needs.Keep the Production road box stocked.At the venue, disseminate run sheets, schedules, and other information to the crew and update as needed. Set up Production office. Post schedules, run orders, and other show-specific information. Page preshow and intermission calls, check presets and dancer amenities, etc. Cover class and work-light rehearsals. Create and disseminate Performance Reports after each performance. Pack up Production office on load out.Ensure that props and other performance equipment are handled and stored safely according to industry best practices.Ensure that dancer and crew safety is paramount in technical rehearsals and performances.Other duties as assigned.Internal Contacts:General Manager, Production Manager, Assistant Production Manager, Artistic Director, Associate Artistic Director, Ballet Masters, Facilities Manager and staff, Production Carpenter, Production Electrician, Assistant Stage Manager, Properties Master, Lighting Supervisor, Wardrobe Supervisor, Assistant Wardrobe Supervisor, Wardrobe AssistantExternal Contacts:Venue crews, theater managers, rptiteurs, choreographers, designers.Qualifications ? Education and ExperienceA bachelor?s degree in stage management, or equivalent stage management experience.Minimum two years of professional stage management experience, preferably in ballet.Strong musical sense.
