Listing Information: The Public has produced shows at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park and its downtown home on Lafayette Street since the 1960s and currently produces a full season of shows year-round including classics, musicals, and new works. The building at 425 Lafayette is a landmark that was initially constructed beginning in 1850 as New York City’s first free public library, and the Delacorte has welcomed over 5 million people to its free Shakespeare in the Park performances. The Operations Department is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of both venues as well as tracking building activity and coordinating department work around production schedules.
The Operations Office Assistant will be exposed to the daily tasks of the Operations Department including administrative functions and systems operations. The main responsibilities will be assisting the Operations Administration office in various day to day tasks. General office tasks include:
• Daily calendar updates for shared spaces and performance venues • Create and track all staff, company member, and overhire IDs • Print & maintain stock of sticker credentials for artists & guests • Maintain shared office supplies for copier spaces & other communal areas • Sort mail for organization & support mail room needs • Database updates • Filing and archival work • Cover Front Desk for lunch breaks and otherwise as needed • Support Front Desk administrative duties • Assist the Operations Administration department with a variety of additional tasks
The ideal candidate has an interest in theater and previous experience in theater production or administration, is tech savvy with experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and is organized, has strong attention to detail, a good communicator, and has a positive attitude. An interest in the inner-workings of historic buildings and capital projects is a plus.
Part-time position. Part-time hours are negotiable within the regular 10a-6pm Monday-Friday work week with an expectation of 30 hours per week. Regular shifts are scheduled to start early January 2019.
