Listing Information: The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival / Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Inc. seeks an experienced, dynamic, and highly motivated part-time Grant Writer. The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching, writing, and coordinating our grant application process.About FLMTF/MGR:Headquartered in Auburn, NY, what was founded as a modest children's theatre in 1958 has now become a multi-faceted, nationally recognized $5M operation. The organization is comprised of two key divisions: the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival and the Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre.The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival was launched in 2012 as a larger brand umbrella to serve as an economic engine for Auburn and the Finger Lakes and simultaneously celebrate and invest in the advancement of the art of musical theatre. The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival operates on two stages: The Merry Go Round Playhouse in Emerson Park and The Carriage House Theatre. At the Playhouse, our flagship venue, we produce five Broadway -caliber productions each season (May through October) and reach nearly 60,000 patrons each year. Our on and offstage talent come from all over the country. We are comprised of 20 full time employees year-round but at the height of our Festival season, we will employ upwards of 220 theatre professionals.At the Carriage House Theatre, also as part of the Festival, we present The PiTCH ? a new works initiative and artistic incubator that supports emerging musical theatre writers and their musicals in development. Established in 2012, The PiTCH fills both a void and a need for development opportunities for musical theatre writers. Each season, we welcome five creative teams that participate in a week-long residency. They present their material to our audiences, engaging about the piece and process. To date, 65 new works have passed through The PiTCH, cultivating a potent artistic branch that makes an increasingly significant impact on local, regional, and national levels. The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival is one of the largest producing professional musical theatre organizations in New York State, outside of New York City.The Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre encompasses all of our dynamic arts enrichment programs for students in grades K-12, as well as our innovative flagship educational program, Sequential Dramatics. This powerful and impactful arts education program is one of the largest resident touring education initiatives in North America, serving nearly 70,000 students in 75 districts and 25 counties in New York State. The organization prides itself as a growing distinct and powerful arts organization dedicated to engaging audiences and nurturing the next generation.Position Description:Submit 2-4 new or recurring grants per month, contingent on prospect research & deadlines;Update master foundation calendar with deadlines, details, and strategies;Review past grant applications;Review current collateral material and narratives;Research & Planning;Compile research of prospective foundations and funding sources;Work with the team on implementation of ideas and outreach to expand funding opportunities;Working Environment:The Grant Writer will work closely with the Producing Artistic Director, Managing Director, Development Associate, and may liaise with other staff and board members as well. The Grant Writer will work remotely and liaise via conference calls and occasional office visits.Experience/Qualifications:A minimum of 5 years of experience in research and grant writing for nonprofit organizations;Demonstrated ability to write successful grant proposals;Clear, precise, and compelling writing skills;Detail-oriented, organized, deadline-driven;Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment;Applicants need not be local to the area.Must be willing to come to Auburn several times per year.To Apply:Email cover letter, resume, two writing samples, salary history, and target salary range along with three references to Recruitment@FingerLakesMTF.com with subject line: Grant Writer.
