DESCRIPTION

Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre, a 501(c)3 organization, is passionately dedicated to presenting the highest quality theatrical performances to entertain and educate the diverse population of the region and enhance the economic vitality of the greater New Orleans area. By offering a full season of contemporary and classic dramas, comedies, musicals, and children's productions, as well as master classes and special events, the theatre embraces the work of the city's professional artists both onstage and backstage, all the while nurturing and mentoring up-and- coming talent with its array of outreach programs.

Le Petit Theatre is searching for a Director of Development. A member of the senior leadership team and reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development is responsible for the fundraising initiatives of a theatre that produces a five-show subscription season plus additional off-subscription and educational programming.



About the role:

The Director of Development shall oversee the contributed income goals for the theatre through the annual fund, government and foundation support, corporate sponsorship, major gifts, and special events including an annual gala. They will be an articulate and enthusiastic spokesperson for the organization and will communicate the importance of its programs to a wide range of constituents. The Director of Development will work with executive leadership and the board to grow and deepen existing and new donor relationships locally and nationally.



Duties of the role include:

- Direct all fundraising activities on behalf of the theatre, including board and individual giving, institutional support, and major gifts.

- Work with the board Development Committee and executive leadership on annual fundraising goals and execution of development plan.

- Build and grow relationships with board members, funders, government agencies, donors, and other stakeholders.

- Communicate regularly with board members, advisory board, and donors about the organization's activities and programs.

- Cultivate, solicit, and steward major and multi-year gift prospects.

- Identify new sources of support for education and new works programming.

- Supervise outside grant writer and oversee grants calendar.

- Play a leadership role as appropriate at donor and patron events, opening nights, board

meetings, and committee meetings.

- Plan and execute special events including the annual Curtain Call Ball gala and an annual

fundraiser for education.

- Work with board committees to identify new board members, major donors, and sponsors.

- Maintain accurate and updated donor records and cultivation plans.

- Lead benefits fulfillment for board, donors, and sponsors.

- Oversee the department budget and maintain accurate income and expense records.

Qualifications:

- At least three years demonstrated success in development and direct fundraising.

- A proven track record in meeting fundraising goals.

- Ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors in ways that lead to deepened and

authentic engagement.

- Experience building positive relationships with boards, donors and stakeholders and the

ability to effectively communicate the organization's mission, vision, and goals to the

community.

- Strong initiative, assertiveness, and creativity while effectively working as part of a small

staff and volunteers to exceed goals.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with

confidence and enthusiasm for the organization.

- Experience with CRM software is required.



This is a full-time position. Regular office hours are M-F 10am–6pm. Some evening and weekend work required. Competitive starting salary and benefits package.
