Overview:

As a Major Gifts Officer at Asolo Rep, you will play a crucial role in securing more than $1,000,000 annually in funding and support from major donors to sustain and advance the theatre's mission. Reporting to the Director of Development, you will lead the research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors, fostering strong relationships and ensuring their continued engagement with the theatre. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of a vibrant cultural institution.


Key Responsibilities:

Donor Cultivation and Solicitation:

  • Identify, research, and cultivate relationships with prospective major donors who can make significant contributions to the theatre in partnership with executive and development staff and board members.
  • Develop personalized cultivation and engagement plans for each major donor, including individualized proposals and solicitation materials.
  • Lead solicitation efforts, making direct requests for financial support and effectively communicating the impact of donations on the theatre's programs and initiatives.
  • Facilitate annual donor renewal process, follow up, and tracking for their portfolio.
  • Belief and support in donor-centered philanthropic culture

Stewardship and Relationship Management:

  • Ensure timely and meaningful stewardship of major donors, expressing gratitude and providing regular updates on the impact of their contributions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of donor interactions, preferences, and giving history in the donor database.
  • Foster a powerful sense of connection and engagement among major donors with the theatre's artistic and educational programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to engage major donors through various performances and behind the scenes activities to develop strong relationships with the organization  

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work collaboratively with the development team, Board members, artistic staff, and other stakeholders to leverage relationships and support fundraising efforts.
  • Communicate effectively with donors, providing clear and compelling updates on the theatre's activities, achievements, and funding needs.
  • Represent the theatre at events, meetings, and networking opportunities to promote donor relations and fundraising initiatives.
  • In collaboration with Development Data Associate, ensure accurate data entry, contact management, donor research, and financial recordkeeping, timely gift acknowledgement and renewal correspondence, using discretion with confidential information.

Strategic Planning and Goal Setting

  • Contribute to the development of the theatre's fundraising goals, strategies, and annual development plan, with a focus on major gifts revenue.
  • Monitor progress towards fundraising targets, tracking key metrics and adjusting strategies as needed to achieve objectives.
  • Stay informed about trends and best practices in major gifts fundraising, incorporating innovative ideas and approaches to enhance effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a emphasis on annual and major gifts fundraising required.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting individual donors with experience securing gifts of 5- to 6- figures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate the theatre's mission and funding priorities persuasively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, Word, Teams, OneDrive and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with fundraising CRM/database programs.  Tessitura exp a plus
  • Some evenings, weekends and holiday work will be required.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Attend and assist with development events and projects as needed
  • Attend at least one performance of every Asolo Rep production

Graphic Designer & Layout Coordinator

SUMMARY: 

The Graphic Designer & Layout Coordinator is a dynamic and creative member of the marketing and communications team who conceptualize, design, and produce advertising and collateral materials to promote theatrical shows while also supporting the institutional marketing needs.  This role alongside the Brand and Design Manager is responsible for ensuring Asolo Rep’s highest quality standards are met and materials creatively and consistently reflect the organization’s brand identity.  The ability to positively receive and process feedback is essential for this position. A successful candidate will have an appreciation for the performing arts and enthusiastically support the artistic vision and mission of Asolo Rep.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Assist in design and execution of customized promotional, institutional, and educational materials for marketing, development, artistic, education and outreach teams
    • Lead layout developer of print publications.
    • Create campaign supporting graphics including print ads, digital banners, posters, front-of-house assets, collateral, postcards, etc.
    • Proactively identify opportunities to approach materials in new and dynamic ways while maintaining the brand guidelines and overall institutional aesthetic
    • Collaborate with colleagues to brainstorm, share resources and ensure consistency across materials and branding standards
    • Read show scripts and actively participate in discussions with producing creative team members to better understand key themes in the work while also sourcing inspiration for design concepts
    • Work with established vendors, or source new vendors, to ensure jobs are completed accurately, on schedule and on budget
    • Advise on materials and best practices to deliver the highest quality result
    • Interface with a wide range of Asolo Rep staff and producing artist team members to clarify needs and design direction

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 3+ years of professional graphic design experience; in-house design experience helpful; theatrical and/or entertainment experience strongly preferred
    • Strong ability to interpret a vision into design; enjoys designing for a wide range of styles while leaning on a solid design foundation in print, digital, branding, typography and catalogue or program production
    • Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); competency in Microsoft Office and project management platforms (Ansana, Teams, etc.)
    • Strong layout and photo editing skills for touch-up, color correction and cropping
    • Impeccable attention to detail
    • Excellent communication, organizational and project management skills with the ability to process constructive feedback, work collaboratively and juggle multiple priorities under tight deadlines
    • Copywriting experience is helpful
    • Strong understanding of industry and design best practices; stays current with emerging trends and publishing methods
    • Dedicated and responsive team player who enthusiastically supports the artistic vision and the performing arts
    • Some evening and weekend hours may be necessary
    • Regularly attend Asolo Rep performances, programs and hosted events

Video and Multimedia Specialist

Position Summary:

The Video and Multimedia Specialist is responsible for helping to tell the visual story of Asolo Rep. As a dynamic member of the marketing and communications department, the Video and Multimedia Specialist is a skilled videographer, editor, motion graphics artist and photographer who understands how to visually tell a story, from concept through execution. This team member will conceptualize, design and produce materials to promote theatrical events and support the institutional needs of other departments. They instinctually understand when a video or photo opportunity may present itself and takes the initiative to capture the moment for a current or possible future project. The Video and Multimedia Specialist displays enthusiasm for the mission, vision, artistic endeavors, programs and initiatives of Asolo Rep.

Essential Job Functions:

  • House Videographer and Photographer for productions
  • Drive ticket sales through video and photo projects delivered through a range of platforms including broadcast, website, video sharing, streaming, digital publishing, e-newsletters, social media and print
  • Identify opportunities to enhance campaigns and communications through video and photography
  • Create and edit Asolo Rep commercials and promotional videos adhering to all broadcast and institutional brand guidelines
  • Sources or create materials (video, VO, music beds, graphics, etc.) to conceptualize, create and deliver promotional support for theatrical performances
  • Create, edit and manage requests for graphic and video content for lobby, season announcement, special events and other presentations throughout the season
  • Cut b-roll for distribution to television stations with tight turnarounds
  • Work with vendors and partners to book and manage b-roll and multi-camera shoots of full productions during previews; hire and manage freelancers based on the business needs
  • Collect and maintain video archives with the ability to make updates for company and partner use.  Archival oversite.
  • Collaborate with marketing and inter-departmental staffs to deliver professional video packages that support and enhance the vision and objectives of the organization; act independently and responsibility to carry out all plans, tasks and areas of responsibility
  • Anticipate and proactively reach out to internal departments to identify needs, advise on best practices, manage video project workflow and ensure projects are completed on time
  • Digital marquee planning and execution including digital lobby displays.
  • Maintain multimedia equipment
  • Attend and actively participate in departmental and inter-departmental meetings providing insight and recommendations as appropriate

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the areas of film production, photography, advertising, or communications
  • 3+ years related experience; performing arts/live entertainment experience preferred
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro and photo editing software
  • Strong knowledge of video sharing (YouTube, Vimeo), digital publishing (Issuu) and streaming (StreamYard, YouTube Live, Zoom) platforms
  • Strong understanding of industry and design best practices; stays current with emerging trends
  • Dedicated and responsive team player who enthusiastically supports the artistic vision and the performing arts
  • Must demonstrate excellent time management, organizational and project management skills juggling multiple priorities and tasks under tight deadlines

Scenic Artist

Position: Scenic Artist
Sarasota, Florida

General Summary: The Scenic Artist uses a wide variety of artist’s media to create layouts, shape materials, and apply textures, coatings, and finishes to scenic elements, properties, backcloths, and other visual elements. Work is completed using materials provided by the Company’s Creative Teams under the direction of the Scenic Charge Artist.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, paint elevations, models, and research materials provided by Designers.
  • recognize historical periods and artistic styles.
  • Use basic tools to create necessary layouts either by hand or with the use of reproduction equipment.
  • Adept at mixing and using various kinds of paints, ink, dyes, coatings, adhesives, and solvents
  • reproduce artwork in the desired format using common methods and techniques as directed by the charge artist.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Able to complete a project from start to finish including surface prep, back-paint, primer, base, graphics, sculptural or decorative elements, textures, and sealers; either alone or working in teams.
  • Able to maintain consistent quality and attention to detail in creating the Designer’s vision of the performance environment.
  • Able to maintain clean and safe workspaces both in individual and common areas.
  • Able to work with the Shop Foreman and other departments to ensure product flow and on-time completion of scenic units.
  • Physically able to sit, stand, etc. for long periods of time while working on pieces of various sizes, including small hand props, stencil work and signage, larger scenic elements, and backdrops as large as 30 feet by 60 feet.
  • Able to lift up to fifty pounds and move larger materials with assistance.
  • Able to work safely on ladders, scaffolds, and personnel lifts.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • experience with professional studio and art school training.
